Looking on getting 40"- 60" screen for movies, gaming(360/PS3), connecting my PC via hdmi, built in(preferred, add on ok) wifi with like netflix app like capabilities, 3D is a plus but not required. At a reasonable price(under 1k). Now I have no idea if I should be looking at LED/LCD LED ELED Plasma etc. I know there's alot of Samsung & Sony fans out there. Back in my parents house they have both brands and quite pleased with both picture quality, though I think the Samsung lamp is burning out or overheating after I helped them move to a new house. Not sure if something broke during the move or what, usually turns off after a few hours, green light flashes n stays off. But yea enough about that. rambling lol. 1080p of course! Not sure if it will be wall mounted yet, gf not too keen on drilling holes into the wall even though I love mounting up the TV to the wall. I saw this http://www.frys.com/product/6225950 SAMSUNG UN40C7000 40" 1080p 240hz 3D HDTV - $580 Thought this was a pretty darn good price for everything offered unless someone can point out something about it. Granted of course this is not available at my local frys :( lols. I'm in no hurry on getting a TV, kinda waiting for the Black Friday deals before I make a move but it would be nice to have an idea what to keep my eye out for. Snagged a tech job and I think I start sometime next week, just waiting for my schedule for training in my email. So I got time to save up for a month for these holiday sales.

I am bias but after owned a Panasonic Plasma, I would never consider anything else. I spent months doing research and as far as superior picture quality, zero issues handling fast motion, plasma just works. I have seen some led lit sets with local dimming that look pretty good as well though.

I'd definitely go for that 40" from Fry's.

I have 4 vizio tvs in my house. And they work great. Everything from a 24" up to a 42" tv. And the price is typically really good on them

The bad thing about the newer model sharps is that they no longer use the local dimming and some people see diamond patterns or uneven light distribution on the edges but if it looks good to you, go for it! I seriously considered the 70" sharp from Costco, it was one of my top 3 choices.

I love my old Samsung LED 46"UN46B8000XFXZA HDTV, it's not 3D but I'm fine with that. It's 240Hz and I have a Samsung Blu-Ray player and my PC's secondary input going into it. Totally reliable and have had it for 2.5yrs. Never moved it, though - although I have taken it down to clean the screen. It's a Smart TV, the features all work - Netflix, etc. I have it connected to my router with a Ethernet cable, although there is a WIFI adapter available - because it's right next to it. 3D gives me a headache...

3D with the glasses that shutter isn't too bad. It sucks you have to be within 8FT or so or else they don't work. The TV's that do not require the shutter glasses do hurt my eyes though... I have the Samsung UN40B6000. Paid quite a bit for it when LED was brand new. Comparing it to all of the other TV's at the time... I knew I had to have that one. The picture was just so much more clear compared to any other TV they had at the time. I know other brands have good LED's now, other members on here really like the LG ones quite a bit. When I was up at bestbuy a week ago, I looked at the TV's again. I really want 3 of those new samsung TV's that have barely any borders, so they would look really good in a triple monitor set-up... One of these days i'll have that... It won't be too long. Especially with deals like that one at Fry's for $580 all ready.

Personally I look for a picture..... >.>

All kidding aside, I look for 120Hz or higher and 46"+ ...coupled with a good manufacturer...Generally I stay with Panasonic Plasma's...I love their picture quality..but that's me.

If you read the reviews by actual people, most of them dislike the Sharp "4th pixel" gimmick. Over saturated yellows and hues that are way off. The number one trick that stores use;crank up the brightness and color levels to an unnaturally high setting and put on something animated with lots of colors. Flocks of people gather thinking what a great picture it is. In the real world ( and in a correctly calibrated set) colors don't "pop" like that. People crank those setting and then later wonder why their eyes hurt or why peoples skin looks pink when the sets are in a dark room. All of that aside, $580 is a pretty decent deal on that TV. If you can wait till say...March, you can pick up a left over 2012 model for a lot cheaper. We have a ways till all the 4k crap comes and the 3d sets aren't getting a whole lot better. Refresh rates higher than 120 are just a waste so you aren't going to pull the trigger too soon.

I appreciate your opinion and respect it. Being the owner of a 46" sharp aquos i must totally disagree.... My wife and I have never seen a tv with such colors and vivid images. We stood in the store for at least 2 hours looking at all of the various makes and models and I also played with the settings myself.

Ya, I look at the 4th color of Sharp Aquos 70" last silly season and went with the cheaper model because it actually looked better. Costco had them side by side and a Sharp Rep was there. I went wow, I mean where is the wow. The Sharp Rep even went, "some people see better yellow" and I said "do you" and he said "I don't have your eyes" and I said "You keep your yellow and I'll keep my green" It was a $700 dollar difference at the time. Sharps Aquos LED is a great TV. I adore mine. I also liked the Sony Bravia but Costco wasn't selling those.

I really loved my Panasonic Plasma I had a while back before I got my LED TV. I had to return it because the feature that is supposed to avoid burn-in, does not work while in PC mode... Within the first month I got burn-in on the screen from my desktop background... I left the screen on for about 4 hours while running errands... With that said, I wouldn't recommend a Plasma for a PC monitor unless you are really good about turning off that screen every time you're about to walk away. That Fry's deal is making me a little jealous... That's a really nice TV.
