Hello everyone, So I got my GTX 1080 FTW two days ago and to start off I would like to say its pretty neat. So I threw some benchmarks against it so I could see how it was performing out of the box. From running Valley Benchmark for about 20-30 mins yesterday my temperature were about 71-74c which it mostly hovered around 72-73c with the fan speed ~40%. From playing Rise of the Tomb Raider and Dying Light my temperature it was about 74-76c with the fan speed ~50%. As a result of my temps, my clock speed drop from 2025 and settles at 1949 Mhz which is kind of expected. Though I have notice it might go back up to 1962 Mhz. I haven't over-clocked or tweaked the fan curve yet but I was interested in knowing what other owner's temperature and / or fan speeds are. Sadly I don't know the ambient temperature of my room but my case is Corsair 750D Airflow Edition and I don't have any cables blocking any of the fans. Nevertheless thank you for taking a look at this post!

Your temperatures seem quite good. I didn't try the default fan profile for my card, I just determined what fan level is unhearable for me (68%) and set my card up to operate around this level. My temps are usually 66-72°C with the fans spinning at 66-71%. I got the Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 case packed up with fans (4*140mm case fans @1100 rpm (one at 800) and a watercooled CPU with 2*120mm with fans at 900-1200 rpm), almost no cables blocking the airflow. I got it overclocked a bit (45 GPU / 150 memory, 115% Power Target) and my clock speed is between 2012-2063. Oh, and it is almost completely silent, I only notice it when I close the window and listen for it. Hmm I'll just run some Valley now to get a good reference point for you ;) It's also a bit more warm than it was yesterday when I checked my temps with the Firestrike benchmark that also gets really close to the temps I get while gaming. Oh, pictures of my build are at my mods rigs page ;) /edit : Just finished 30 minutes of Valley and it seems to be the least demanding benchmark I ever ran xD 61-67°C, with a maximum fan speed of 68% and a maximum TDP of 83%. Clock speed settled at 2038, sometimes dipping to 2025 MHz after reaching 67°C. I think Heaven is better for temp testing, it gets 1-2 degrees below Firestrike, and thus gaming performance, IIRC.

all you need is a custom Fan curve and you are set ... at 70C you should be atleast at 70% fan speed. with custom fan curve you wont even touch 73c anymore... just teak it a bit to your liking and the temps will be a lot better.

Ahh cool, I'm going to try to over-clock my card over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to get my clock speeds above 2 Ghz. Fingers crossed.

Good luck, I think you got good chances in combination with an optimized fan curve, seeing it boosting that far in stock settings. I added some Valley temps to my original post, so you can compare ;) Btw, I used Heaven for testing my OC - and a higher fan curve really helped keeping it constantly above 2.000.

I'm going to play around with my fan curve later today to get an idea of what my clock speeds will be at lower temps from GPU Boost 3.0 (preliminary research before I try to OC). Though to be honest, I was slightly concerned when it did peak 75/76c on 50% fan speed on auto but then again I do have EVGA's awesome cooling keeping things in check.

Thanks for the update, I'll download Heaven as soon as I can. I appreciate the additional information and the help. Also another thank you to lordaeron1.

Signature system, EVGA 1080GTX FE SLI, limited by Gsync panel refresh rate (100Hz), I miss so much single card because of Fast Sync. With full use of them (98-99%) temps go to 76ºC max.
