Hey all  :)

Well 2 days ago I bought a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, since I only play VR chat lately the 5900X wasn't good enough, and the 5800X3D well this beauty made a world's difference especially loading in avatars or worlds even with 24 or more people I can now run  it all with my Pico 4 and a Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6800 XT Special Edition PCI-E 16GB 256Bit GDDR6 from 2022 at 37 fps per eye without slow downs and it all looks pretty flawless. you're basically rendering the image twice so it's 2x 2160x2160p in that sense.
So here's the process of me building in the new CPU and some final shots of build the build showing off it's lovely RGB lighting with a mixture of Cold Cathode Lamps and LED's from the graphics card, sound card, mainboard and system memory that the system has within it's hull.

Valkyrie 2024

1x 8 Core AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 8 Cores /16Theads @ 3.4Ghz / 4.5Ghz Max Turbo 4MB L2 & 96MB L3 Cache
1x Noctua NH-U12S SE AM4
Noctua NF-12 PWM , an extra 120mil fan for the CPU cooler
Gigabyte Aorus B550 Elite AX V2 for Socket AM4
4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB RT 32GB PC4-28800 aka DDR4-3600
Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6800 XT Special Edition PCI-E 16GB 256Bit GDDR6
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X AE-5 Plus Dedicated sound card for Music, Films, Series & Games
Realtek ALC-1200 for Sennheiser PC-360 G4ME Headset
Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter
Corsair Force3 240GB SSD as main boot disk
Micron Crucial MX500 2TB SSD as game disk
Plextor PX-950SA BluRay RW Drive for Single & Dual Layer BR disk
Lian Li TYR PC-X2000B + Lian Li W-X2000B Window kit both 1 of 200 made worldwide
SeaSonic Focus GX 850 Gold EPS 12V + 24V PSU
iiyama Red Eagle G-Master GB2770QSU-B1 27" IPS panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio for a max native Reso of 2560x1440x32 @ 165Hz

Win10 Pro x64 UK 22H2
AMD Adrenalin 24.5.1 WHQL
----------

And here the pics of of the new CPU installation, I took use of Noctua NT-H2 Thermal Compound
Personally I am always favoring their thermal compound solutions, I always had good cooling results in combination with their Noctua coolers.

Here I cleaned the base of the heatsink prepared the Notcua NT-H2 Thermal Compound on the surface of the 5800X3D's shim with an X pattern within1cm from the edges.

Here the Noctua NH-U12S SE AM4 neatly mounted

And here all working as it should do, the wallpaper is one of my bases from No Man's Sky:

And here the final build cleaned and completed:

And a closeup of the Nitro+ RX 680) XT SE:

Here the lovely RGB effects the Nitro+ RX 6800 XT SE gave me,so I made a photo shoot of the different colored stages:

The overall performance is fantastic for 2560x1440p with all my games and the VR experience is fantastic as well.
For all I can see there no issues at all with the drivers, everything works fantastically well, it's a rock solid build for all round workloads
And there you have it, enjoy the photo's that I made with my 2003 build Sony CyberShot DSC V3 handheld digital camera

Hey thanks man, now I'm waiting for the 9800X3D the ZEN 5 based CPU with 3D-V Cache for a secondary build, as for Dual CPU systems, sadly not really affordable these days, I do miss doing those though.

    Nice Rig

What did you get with the previous 5900X, MB, & RAM combo, in frame rates in your game?

Hey many thanks man well VR Chat was  the biggest improvement  in VR with the Pico 4 and this setup by using a USB Tuype-C to USB 3.1 power link cable I had to run at medium settings and getr 36 fps per high, high settings was very flaky at times unless if the world was more optimized I could use high with FSAA x2 at 32 a 35 fps per eye  now I can run everything even with 24 + people at max settings + FSAA x4 at 37 fps per eye and no drop at all.
Some worlds I can even use the FSAA x8 settings and I get 37 to 40 fps per eye it just depends on how optimized the world aka map is.
Far Cry 6 with max RT I used to get around 97 fps now it's around 129 a 132 fps  so that isa nice gain there I always have Smart Access Memory enabled.

For the rest everything feels snappier some how.

I am curious to what intel is coming up with their new series of CPU's it would be nice if they would do a new line of High Performance Desktop series of CPU's like what you had with LGA 2011  for the X79, X99 & X299 chipsets, I kind of miss this from intel nowadays  eventho AMD does have the lead with the CPU market, to me Competition is really of need and I'd love to build a new gen intel system some day, that Pentium !!!/E 850Mhz Coppermine build kind of drives me towards Intel at times haha, it's just nice to try other things that has always been my state of mind.

Also I now have a a much improved internet connection I went from 100Mbit Download / 30Mbit Upload to 1000Mbit Download / 100Mbit Upload for just 5 eur per month more so yea was worth doing this will also help alot when being in VR.
And I have port forwarding as well, ideal for when testing Ascentroid

    Update :

While I'm at it  I also upgraded from my 23 year old Switch which has been in service since March 05, 2001, which is this one:
    OvisLink ETHER FSH24G  24 port 10/100Mbit+ 2x 1000Mbit Switch:

    To this new one:
    TP-Link TL-SG116 16 Port 1000Mbit Ethernet Switch

Here a video of an unboxing of the this switch:
