I guess it is now a good time to pick up a used graphic card if the price is right.

    I am not seeing any cheap AMD 4xx 5xx R9-280x 290...., or GTX1060/1070 GPUs.
Not on any of the for sale sections of the forums I vist.
Asking prices are still high on ebay.

I am not sure I would call it dead since those prices seem to show people are trying to get out but know people are still buying into it. As said above when we are seeing them sold at a massive loss we will know it's dead.

Just checked the GTX 1070 on eBay and they are not selling cheap. The lowest buy it now  was $435 for a used card, that's not cheap.

There was a tech channel on youtube saying you could buy a new GTX 1070 for $350 on July 15th, 2017. I asked where he was seeing them for $350 new and he nor anyone ever answered back.

Buying a heavily used mining card for retail price is just dumb. Might as well wait a couple weeks and get a new 1070

I suspect that article was flat out wrong - there was a SHORT period, perhaps a week, while the last of the "major correction" price drop was happening when Ethereum total network hashrate was flat - but that ended a couple days ago, after pricing started recovering and went back into climb mode.

Given that Ethereum has more GPUs working on it than all other cryptocoins combined (my estimate, but I concede that it's probably fairly close given ZEC has about half as many by itself), this matters a LOT.

Up side - the "mining specific" cards have shown up in enough volume to take SOME of the price pressure off the regular cards, expecially on the NVidia side.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

The last of fhe major correction price drops? I am sure that there will be more to come. The whole thing is a house of cards based on nothing but trust and energy waste. It will continue to be volatile.

"The last of" as in "the final part OF" or "the last couple days of" the recent major correction price drop, not last as in "this was the last one that will ever happen".

These cards flooding the market, why are miners selling them? I get that they use them for Bitcoin, etc. but why sell them if they can still be used?

It's a matter of profitability. Any cryptocurrency becomes harder to mine over time as more work is done on it. Some switch, or are slated to switch, to a proof of stake platform (which Ethereum will one day be); others, like Bitcoin, require ASIC devices that are specifically designed for it.

There's also market factors, such as the value of the cryptocurrency in question.

Once they're done, they sell the cards to maximize their profits. Plus many of these people have a handful of cards, so they don't really need them for anything else.

Still Higher than MSRP. This is pathetic

As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

That makes sense, might as well sell it if you're not using it anymore.
What's crazy still though is the prices they're selling them at

Like lemmings people chase after this stuff. The same people who hyped up crypto-currencies are getting the tech news sites to give them now advertising to unload their hardware after manipulating people into buying into the idea. People need to see the forest through the trees.
