Hi there,
Wanting some help as I'm trying to follow instructions from EVGA tech support to update the BIOS on my card as I'm getting hard freezes in game.
They said to turn the SW1-1 switch to off (which both SW1-1 & SW-2 were already off) and then turn SW1-2 or SW1-2 to on so I put SW1-2 to the on position.
I then right click run as admin to install the BIOS they sent me and I get a DOS window come up with an error saying unable to setup nvflash.exe with an error code containing a whole lot of 0s and an x.
I have my nvidia hd audio device turn off in sound controllers as I thought this was causing my freezing as I play flight simulator but it froze today.
Should I reanable this to get nvflash working or is that separate to it.
Please if I could get some help in updating the BIOS on my card that would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Before you flash the firmware, you'll need to either uninstall or disable your video card drivers, otherwise you can't flash the card. I suggest going to the Device Manager under Display Adapter, right-clicking the 970, and select "Disable". The screen will flash black, then come up at a low resolution, where you can flash the card. Re-enable the driver, then restart and you're good to go!

The newer nvflash version automatically disables the card for you. You guys should update to the newer version.

Thanks for the response people.
EVGA sent me a link to download this vbios 2978V361.exe
I right clicked on it & set it to run as ADMIN to install It & that's when the DOS window opens up and it gives me that error message.
So if I use a newer version of nvflash how do I install the above VBIOS that EVGA sent me?
Also if they said to turn the BIOS 1 switch to off then either BIOS 1 or 2 switch to on howcome they were both set to off since I bought the card, do I really need to touch these little switches at all?

Unless things have changed, you switch from BIOS 1 to BIOS 2 by moving SW1_1 to the ON position and change it back for BIOS 1..Changing SW1_2 to the ON position will prevent the BIOS' (1 or 2) from being overwritten ( link) and would surely cough up an nvflash error when you try flashing..Don't put SW1_2 in the ON position if you want to flash the BIOS (1 or 2)..Leave both in the off (original) position to flash BIOS 1.

Nothing changed except the fan curve from bios 1 and bios 2 on the FTW. All the other settings were the same. I flashed bios 2, so I could have the base original still on the card for the "just in case" measure. Either would work, but....they're essentially the same thing, except that bios 2 with the more aggressive fan curve hit the power limits faster. lol

EVGA usually sets up the bios in a .exe. You click it, it runs all required items so you don't have to do anything and the flash becomes fail proof after removing unfamiliar people from changing things. It usually works pretty well, when it works.
