During an Ubuntu MATE 19.04 installation, (and other flavors in the Ubuntu 19.04 family*), users can as always select the option to install 3rd party software. Said software now includes Nvidia's proprietary graphics driver "suitable for your generation of Nvidia GPU." For example, if you have an Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti, you'll get version 418. Laptop users with an older GTX 960m would receive version 390.

    Interesting, wonder if this'll make Steam library more viable on Linux?

    very cool...now if game devs would start supporting Linux better (with every game) I'd switch off Winblows in .5 seconds.

    Well its not like it was that hard to install nvidia drivers on Ubuntu in the first place.
    This just skips the extra step post installation.
    I personally never had issues with using the open drivers as a temp measure to install the proprietary drivers, not saying it doesnt happen but Ubuntus hardware support has almost always been stellar.

    Been using Ubuntu 19.04, been pretty happy with it, still too fresh for me, Wine isnt working for me as of yet, Steam works better that U18 didnt. Diff trying for a daily driver for current and upcoming linuxs builds,  MS really pissed on my cookies with Win10, Win7 could be my last MS OS.....
