I have the option to step up from my 3090 kingpin to the 3090 Ti FTW3 ULTRA for $80+ tax & shipping
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts about the performance upgrade most of the reviews I've seen just compare the 3090 Ti to the founders 3090.
For reference my Kingpin scored 15300 on Port Royal with the AIO and on the OC bios.

Is going from AIO to Air cooling ok for your case?

If so, go for it. The price is right in this situation.

You may see a decrease in performance. 90% of 3090 Tis get lower score than your 3090 Kingpeen

Oh , I would not. You may get worse card. You're KP will do everything a Ti will.

Yeah I was looking at this, too. My Kingpin outperforms a lot of these Tis. I'm at like 15.2k with stock everything. I wouldn't go with anything other than another Kingpin.

I'd consider that a downgrade.  You lose overclocking ability.

It depends on how important saying 3090Ti is to you. The 3090 is able to run any game on max settings so a small upgrade is not really worth it. If you didn’t have the card though I probably would do the 3090Ti over a Kingpin.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Thanks all for the input, I'll probably wait and see if the 3090 ti KP is released before the end of my step-up period if you can even step up from one Kingpin card to another.
Also I've gotten used to seeing the 50c average temp on the the Hybrid 3090 KB lol.

You can not step up to a Kingpin card, so don’t hold your breath.

The FTW3 Ultra’s have been the only sku on the step up list for the 30 series. Expect it to stay the same until at least the 4000 series launches.

I have similar dilemma, I bought my kingpin less than a month ago I don't want to go to a ftw3 card I am waiting to see what is the price of the 3090ti kingpin. Depending on that I may keep my current card.

3090 kingpin is (potentially) 20-30% faster than 3090 Ti FTW3 according to 3dmark. Why downgrade?

Kingpin is only faster today because there is not enough data within the 3DMark database. Your average Kingpin user is going to be much more into overclocking than your average FTW3 user.

For that price, I'd take that upgrade any time. But, like others said - does going to air versus the AIO benefit you?

Also note that the FTW3 will be easier to sell down the road. Even though AIO is easy, it's still not a easy install for a lot of people. Although, consider that the FTW3 is a 3.5 slot card...

If I did do this I'd plan on slapping a block on it as soon as available. I've blocked all my cards that I've recently got minus the kingpin hybrid

agreed overall but 3.5 slot is a giant cooler. Unusable in many mATX and mITX cases.

You can at least stash the AIO somewhere with the kingpin and mount the card inside a mITX case. With the 3090 ti , you’ll have to get a fairly long riser cable and just leave the card out of the case I guess.

If you want a card on a block , it might be worth it since EK is building the block for the 3090ti, and all mfg's too, which makes me wonder how closely all these cards are. hmmm , If your just gaming and not overclocking, why not.

From what I've seen, when power is equal, the extra performance of the 3090Ti only makes up for not being water cooled. So a hybrid KP is likely very very close to the same performance. Only if you did go custom loop would the 3090Ti actually be significantly faster.

Almost every review is flawed in that they never test with equal power limits. It's like comparing to my crappy Zotac 3090 with a 350w PL. OTOH with my Zotac running on the KP 1kw bios and in a custom loop, it's a different story.

Would be interesting to see if reviewers tested the undervolt abilities of these cards. I had a 3080 that I was able to run at 110 watts less than default and still run 99.7 % of stock performance
