I just watched the latest AMD cpu release reviews and my 2 and more year older than my system and is still faster than the latest release , wth?

probably AMD chipset drivers need to be tweaked; usually happens with new hardware till AMD optimizes the drivers
What about power draw; same performance, using less watts, can be a win.
what tests did you watch? links?

There appears to be a problem with Ryzen and Windows... if you use the built-in Admin account (Net user Administrator /active: yes), a lot of games see a bit of a boost. Steve from Hardware Unboxed spoke with AMD asking why he wasn't seeing the numbers AMD were touting and they stated that they used the built-in Admin account (not just an account granted Admin privileges). AMD claim this is a Windows bug and are working with Microsoft to rectify it in a future update. I reckon that this account simply has enhanced privileges and a lot of the telemetries are probably disabled as Steve found he saw improved performance from the previous version of Ryzen as well.

If you use Linux there is massive performance differences. So much so that the 9950x is now the top gaming CPU for Linux. Real workloads like finance, rendering and video encoding, in Linux, see massive uplifts. Windows is holding everything back. We already know the Windows scheduler is garbage due to a decade of being stuck at "4 cores" thanks to Intel stagnation. If you want real performance, the answer is move to Linux.

After a few days its looking much better but at first it reminded me of the 11th Gen intel products , still wild how there's so little improvement while Apple corners the market on TSMCs best stuff while Intel makes the leap to new processes and has the stop gap mixture of process nodes , Hope the 285K is good .

Windows 11 Update Brings Performance Boost to Ryzen CPUs (excerpt - BOLD added) Microsoft's upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update apparently gives a substantial performance increase for AMD's Ryzen CPUs. This is particularly true for the older Zen 4 and newer Zen 5 Ryzen CPUs, as multiple tests have seen as much as 10 percent increase in performance. According to hardware testing conducted by Hardware Unboxed and KitGuru, the 24H2 update gives an average performance improvement of 10 percent for the older Ryzen 7 7700X and 11 percent for the latest Ryzen 9700X. Even the Ryzen 9 7950X, a previous generation flagship seen in our best CPUs list, sees noticeable performance gains with the new update. Another newer processer that saw improvement was the AMD 7800X3D. It showed an increase when tested in certain games and is a great example of the Zen 4 and Zen 5 architecture receiving upgrades from this update.

I have installed the latest Windows update which contains the optimization and I have seen gaming improvements.

One thing that sometimes happens with reviews is the reviewers are using systems a test bench and are able
to overclock beyond what a home user is able to accomplish and post scores that are higher as a result on the test bench offering better heat dissipation.
For AMD it also comes down to not having as much pre release work it seems with Microsoft so after a couple patches and driver updates performance increases.
