Doesn't make sense, you used the cd driver to install the drivers to make them detect your card then you installed the beta driver OVER that driver? Aren't you supposed to remove these drivers then install the beta? Isn't that what you did?

What I was saying was that when I had my 570SC installed I was running the 285.62 drivers with no problems. When I installed the two 560Ti Classy's the 285.62 drivers would not recognize the new cards. I tried reinstalling 285.62 as I would with any other new card install but it kept coming back saying "No compatible hardware found". I went to www.nvidia.com but could only find the 285.62 and 290 beta drivers. So I took the CD that came with the new card and installed 285.66 I found on there. Others have gone and downloaded and installed the 290 beta drivers and found them to also detect their new 560Ti 448's, but I stayed with 285.66 because they were working well for me.

What I was saying before was that a user on OCN that originally installed the 290 beta drivers has since gone back and remove them and installed the 285.66's found on the disc and found them to give a little bit better OC capability. I can't speak to the OC changed between 285.66 and 290 because I haven't tired the beta drivers. I'm happy with 285.66 for now and will run them till the next official release comes out.

So the 285.66 performs fine for BF3? I still think we're better off using the beta driver? Wish Nvidia would have released a WHQL driver. My card arrived and i have no idea what driver to install in the first place. I went to NVIDIA and i wanted to read the notes for 285.66 and i don't see NO driver for that to download? Why did they add those drivers in the cd in the first place? Shouldn't we be using the beta driver? I have no intention to overclock it anyways cuz i ain't into that anymore.

I installed the latest beta drivers because they contain all the incremental fixes for BF3. If you want a WHQL driver that's fine, but I can only give you feedback on the driver I'm using now, 290.36 because it's the only driver I've used with this card.

I'm in same boat...except that I've only used the 285.66's so I can only speak to those.

As for your question, yes it handles BF3 fine. I've played BF3, Metro2033, Crysis 2, Mafia 2, WoW, and SC2 on these cards so far and haven't any problems at stock setting or overclocked. No crashes, no stability issues, no nothing. They've been flawless so far.

I just played a few 1000 ticket rounds of bf3 with my friends on a 'caspian only' map rotation. My classy was running about 64c with a high 60% fan rate on auto. My fps was mostly in the upper 50's using a mix of high and ultra settings. Just a fantastic gameplay experience all around. Kody your bf3 gameplay must be insane with 2 of these cards..

If someone needs them I have 2 480 Backplates that I have been looking to get rid of since January, lol.

Just shoot me a PM.

Love what you did with the backplates on this build. That is a great idea on how to reuse old hardware.

So how hard was it to remove the '480' from the backplates? I just got mine in and tried using nail polish remover and then something stronger. Neither even made a dent in the lettering.

I wonder that myself too and you didn't had to drill anything to make it fit the back of the video card did you? I might have to re-read this thread again. I had considerations of getting a backplate but meh.

The pcb is _exactly_ the same as the gtx480 pcb.  You don't have to drill anything.
The issue is the new cooler does not use the same holes as the old one, and the backplate expects specific holes to be used.
All you have to do is get the right sized screws, nuts for those screws, and some plastic washers.

There are also several different types of nail polish remover.  You specifically want Acetone based, and you want as high a concentration as possible.

They only tip I can offer is to let get the tower/tissue wet and let it soak on the logo for a few seconds to it can penetrate it. Then just start giving it a good firm rub. After a few seconds it should start coming off like in my pictures.

Actually, the one my fiance had (in the pics) was Acetone free. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it and sure enough it worked just fine.
