Visa Declined nagle3092 Um no, this applies to cpus also. The voltage varies between cards because of the differences in quality of the cores. Nvidia cards have been like this for awhile now. The bios determines the voltage. Two cards with the same bios aren't going to have different voltages. You don't know what you're talking about. No the bios determine the voltage range, the asic determines the default voltage for the card at said clock speed. Go do some research and you might be surprised.

I don't know why I'm bothering, but let me show you whats going on inside of a typical 560Ti bios that I just opened with NiBiTor. You can clearly see the different voltages is uses for low power mode/full power, etc. Any 560Ti that uses this bios will have these voltages applied by default, unless they are altered by software that can adjust it at it's low level, like Precision, Afterburner, etc.

tjmonsen5 Can you explain the reason for backplates? People always get excited about them, are they just for looking sexy? They do look nice.. gotta give you that. I personally just like the look and that's why I want to do this, but since I am not into the whole modding of the GPU (yet!) I do not know the real "reason" Can not someone else answer this, because I'd like to know if there are any Thermal reasons?

The actual voltage is determined by the asic. Look at (go to techpowerup vga bios database it wont let me hot link) scroll down and look at performance level 3 and read what it says by voltage, again notice how its defined by a range. Its like this for all nvidia cards. By your logic then there must be 3 different bios revisions for 1.013v, 1.025v and 1.038v for a card thats been out for less than a week one ? Well there isnt, its all the same bios. Different chips need different voltages and its determined by the asic.

Now i wanna buy a GTX 560 TI Classified. I'll get another one maybe after New Years and go SLi. I wish you shown us a video or step by step how you took those apart and applied the backplate. Did the backplate decrease temps better? Especially in SLi?

I assumed u did research the 480 bp's were the ones that fit correctly on the " 570gts" I mean 560ti 448

I was prepared and knew up front that I would probably have to figure out a way to mount them since the 480 and the 560Ti Classy's use different coolers. As for the MSI, it was my understanding that those boards are completely different so a backplate designed for a reference board won't fit.

Is it just me or did EVGA pull the GTX 480 Back plate from their site? I had bookmarked the page so I could buy one later and now it doesn't load anymore. Also manually looking around on the site doesn't show them anymore. EDIT: Woops that's what I get for not looking a few posts up LOL! Please let me know if the 580 fit. Or what about the 580 Classified Back Plates even? If anyone from EVGA reads this could you please let us know? Or maybe there is one coming out for the 560Ti 448 Classy?

I'm pretty sure it will. 580 backplate/560Ti 448 classy The only problem I see with using a 580 plate is that the three points I used to secure the plate to the Classy don't look to be available. Here are the points I used in red: As you can see, the two on the right of the plate are not there and the 580 plate. Now perhaps you can use the one that are in the middle/top right, but I think you'll run into interference from the heatsink with that one. You could also perhaps use the four around the GPU, as long as the hardware is long enough and doesn't cause problems when you reattach it. Just a heads up. It is probably possible, but it will definitely be more work.

remember guys when your mounting the backplate the bp screenshot is correct while the pcb shot u have to flip it upside down (gpu is face down) whatever holes u are looking at it, look at the opposite ones (hint: look at the sli connector and the space reserved for it)

BIOS allows you to control the hardware. It's a software interface for the hardware on the board. No two chips are the same, it's part of the lithography process. Thus, each chip will need a slightly different voltage. That's why we've seen 560ti's with vid's of 1.013, 1.038, 1.050, and now 1.075. The lower the vid, the 'higher' the bin of the part, and usually the better it will overclock.

The latest drivers nVidia released work good(290.36), there hasn't been a lot of complaints on various forums about them. As far as the plugs an the Classified, you have to use the 8 pin plug. If your ps doesn't have one, they give you an adapter with the card.

After finding out that the latest 285.62 were unable to detect the new cards, I used the disc that came with them and installed 285.66. They have been working without issue so far and handling any and everything thing I've thrown at them. As Visa stated, I've heard that the 290's are also working well, but a user over at OCN was able to get a little better OC's on their MSI card with the 285.66's than they did with the 290's. I don't know if there is anything to that as I haven't tried the 290's myself, but it's just some food for thought.

The ASIC has the table that is used to determine the hardware presets within the allowable ranges of the bios. Also, yes I completely refute that. EVGA sets specific cards to specific VID's because that's the voltage the GPU passed their stress tests at. You may think you're stable, but you're not.
