I think this is really awesome to help people that lost limbs in war, accidents, or from cancer. Even thou they created a bionic hand with sensation, maybe they will use this technology to apply it for other limbs. The only issue I see with this break through is that its going to cost the patient a ton of money to have it surgically attached to their body.

If a military member was to give their arm(s) or leg(s) in service to their country then the costs for bionic replacements are insignificant in my personal opinion.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

And IMO I think the war is what has spurred the great advancements in artificial limbs. Most vets get some of this stuff for free, of course they have to go through a screening to receive it. Make user they are the perfect candidate.

As far as the hand is concerned. I could care less about wires under the skin, wear a long sleeved shirt. If I can manipulate it like a real hand, I would be pretending to be Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, put on a black leather glove. I think the thing is pure awesome.

I couldn't agree more about the advancements in technology for this kind help for people..As far as the veterans go they should get best anything no matter what the costs..they are the that are putting themselves in harms way for us today....As myself being a Nam vet,I just wished the country welcomed us home with open arms like we do today..like they time changes all....

Who wants a robotic arm when they're now doing successful arm transplants? I suppose a robotic arm would work till you got a donor match.

Brad, I can definitely see your point, but at the same time, work on both.  Flesh or fabricated, if you have a person who lost it, now can have it again, that is huge, and barring SEVERE complications either way is a huge improvement.

    Bionic arm > real arm
Imagine what it would be like to have an aircraft aluminum or titanium hand.

i can definitely see that side of the argument, superior (theoretically) grip strength, endurance, and durability.

A downside to a material that much harder than normal flesh and bone, I was thinking of someone like myself who is kinda clumsy, and the damage I would do to table legs, wall corners etc if I had a fake foot like that and I stumbled and kicked furniture in the night  :)

But in all seriousness, this is an excellent advance in technology, and I hope some well deserving vets get priority.
