IMHO Asus easily wins this generation if we're not including LN2 cards like the Galax HOF OC Labs and EVGA Kingpin.

Those Asus cards look like pure studs. They easily win.

If nothing else the other two cards appear to be more well thought out and have significantly lower failure rates reported.

The MSI gaming x trio is not the same level as the strix. A more appropriate comparison is the Suprim X line. I have the Strix and it performs quite well.

How's the noise level and temps on the Strix 3080? The Strix 970's are still my favorite cards ever made. They were dern near whisper silent, power houses, cheap, and ran cool.

I bought a Gigabyte 980 ti and I immediately sold it and bought my 970s back until the 980 ti hybrid launched and I've never looked back.

The Gaming X Trio and Suprim perform identical if you flash the Suprim BIOS on the Gaming X Trio.  The main differences are the Suprim has dual BIOS, slightly better power delivery, and a slightly better cooler.  Once you water cool a Gaming X Trio with the Suprim BIOS you would be hard to tell the difference between that and a water cooled Suprim.

I have the Strix 3090 and I undervolt the card, 1830MHz @0.850mV since summer is here. Temp is in the low 70s with fan speed in the high 60s to 70s during gaming. Not bad I would say, and inaudible fans during gaming. Card can also hit 2145MHz with temp in the low 80s but 100% fan speed and that is too loud for me. I can start noticing the fan noise when it gets to mid-80%. Also, I got a GPU support brace because without it, the fans will be noisier due to the size the sag.

I am pretty sure we are talking about stock vs stock here. You can flash different BIOS on different card and if the card can handle it will perform similarly. If you watercool most cards will also perform similarly.

When it comes to RGB, no company comes close to EVGA's light bar. Not ASUS or MSI.

Vertically mounting this GPU is beautiful.

I really miss the look of the cooler, I switched it to a hybrid and the hybrid looks so bland

While I won’t say the ASUS RGB is crappy, it is nowhere near evga. I have always been an evga loyalist but the first iteration of the evga 3090 ftw3 seems to have problems and I couldn’t get one anyway. I got the asus from Newegg shuffle. I have the evga now but I am too lazy to swap it out and the asus works anyway. My computer sits under my desk and I almost never see it. If RGB or aesthetic is important to you by all means the evga is the way to go.

Coil Whine on the Strix is the worst I’ve heard of any GPU this generation. It was unbearable, and I don’t particularly like the industrial look it has. Probably is best in performance and cooling though.

Sticking to my FTW3 as I enjoy the look and there’s no bad coil whine. Cooling is decent at least, I haven’t reached 80c on my 80Ti playing Ultra on Horizon. I’ll need to see how it performs on other games though. The one card I wanted from the beginning is the Suprim X, but it’s been impossible to get for me at MSRP. And I’d rather avoid trading for warranty reasons.

The actual physical hardware differences between the Gaming X Trio and Suprim are minimal.  So to say the gaming X Trio is not the same level as the Strix while the Suprim is the same level as the Strix, is a bit incorrect.  The Gaming X Trio and Suprim use the same PCB and a nearly identical power delivery system.  The main differences between the two is the BIOS and the stock cooler.  However the Gaming X Trio has been shown to run nearly identical temperatures as the Suprim when you flash the Suprim BIOS on the Gaming X Trio and run the same GPU stress tests.  So the stock cooler isn't a big difference.  The stock power delivery system on the Gaming X Trio handles a sustained 700+ watts without an issue(when you remove the BIOS limitations) in my experience.

Its basically MSI marketing saying that the Gaming X Trio is a much lower level card than the Suprim.

Do you argue for the sake of arguing? Again, stock performance, MSI limited the gaming x trio to the lower power limit, and it is not as fast as the Suprim X. You can certainly flash Hof bios on there or even shunt mod it, it doesn’t matter. Out of the box it is slower.

Not many users are willing to flash the bios of a $2k GPU and risk bricking it.

Yes MSI nerf it on purpose to tier them. Out of the box, it is slower than the top line of other GPUs
