Just saw an MSI 3090 for $2400 last for a couple minutes at Best Buy, there was also a 6800 on Newegg for like an hour this afternoon at a bit over $1K.  The 6800 is sort of a 3070 equivalent I guess.  Now here's the king of the in stock bad deals:

Yeah I guess I didn't notice.  Here's a 6700 XT for over $900.  For those keeping score that's a one year ROI on ETH assuming a best case scenario overclock and coastal US electric costs at current mining payrates.  That's the equivalent to paying $2100 for a 3080.  Plus horrible resale value on an undesirable card assuming a normal GPU market.  Whew.

have you taken a look at the ZOTAC cards , they have been overpriced from the beginning. EVGA is the only one that makes some changes

Well, it's a good sign... maybe?  At least the prices are just sky high rather than astronomically high...

Really might bite the bullet all things considered. An EVGA mouse and Keyboard wouldn't hurt and perhaps a new monitor too.

Any ideas on if this China relocation is going to free up GPUs? It seems like market should flood with them *if* the government is actually kicking them out.

    Take this how you will.

But I don't trust a damn thing out of China.  PERIOD.

    TANSTAAFL

Sure, Chinese slave labor is cheaper.
Quality sucks unless you have someone you know over there CONSTANTLY cracking the whip.
Even getting simple paper product is insane.
I had the same product delayed THREE YEARS STRAIGHT.
The first year, right up until ship date (forget beginning of printing, which they said "yeah we're doing it right now".  But at ship date.
Sorry!  You mentioned Taiwan!  The government won't let us release this stuff.
Turns out they never printed it.
The second year, right up until ship date.  Whoops.  The paper type you selected is NOW has been on an environmental ban for the last 10 months (basically the day after we selected).  Did they get in touch with us?  NOPE.
The third year, they didn't even bother with an excuse.
And in that time, not including all the extra money we fed them to keep the process going, the price of the product increased 50%.

I've seen instances where ENTIRE COMPANIES have been cloned.  And I'm not talking printing companies.  I'm talking HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE COMPANIES.
Starting with look-alike product.  Then branching out into their own products, put forth as if they were the original company.

And when the whistle gets blown, they close up shop and open up under another name.

And if you think the Chinese government has ANYONE'S interests at heart...
Well...the nicest thing I can say is "Those must be some DAMN FINE DRUGS!"

I "won" the chance to buy a 3070 Ti MSI for $950 or a Zotac one for $1025 at Micro Center (these are MSRP)... I just look at it and walk away; I thought it would be around EVGA price range but i guess it isnt

Does mining do damage to a card? like if they sell 20 cards that has been mined before, will at least 15/20 or maybe 10/20? Does graphic card have a limit on how long they stay alive until they're done for?

Yes, but miners usually run them at optimal settings so they can have the highest hash rate and keep the GPU from overheating so they can resell it later on

"Won" Newegg Shuffle for the 3rd time today for a 3080 Ti Strix @ $1999 plus a $379 TUF 27" 1440P165 monitor.  Was selected in the 3rd (?) drawing 4 hours in, so two other people passed on it.  I passed on it too.

Bought a 3090 bundle today on Ant, figure it's about $200 over MSRP after firesaling the PSU and keyboard, inline with other 3090 AIB's and the 3090's pretty rare right now.

Prices in Europe have begun to decrease at internet webstores. It will be a while before this happens in North America.

Wait are you saying they still have terrible prices? Because  I can't believe people will actually pay the "tripled" price for a 3080. Also it does seem like EVGA is really the only brand that actually has good prices right now. As someone else said, Zotac is asking wayyyyy to much.

It's miners who are paying ~$2000 for a 3080 FTW3 non-LHR because of the payout rate on ETH and the good out of the box thermals on the VRAM.  All GPU's for the last 6+ months are priced on the secondary market based on how they mine.  Most AIB's are splitting the difference between secondary market and original MSRP.

This is like the 20th time they've "banned crypto" in the last 5 years.  China bans crypto all the time.

This is different, all crypto transactions are now illegal, https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3471688 and they say it is for "environmental reasons" and that crypto is undermining China's financial system.

The real reason is e-CNY which is going to be China's crypto currency for digital currency transactions.  It is not mined and is a straight 1 to 1 exchange with the renminbi.
