Someone posted the fix. It’s one of the newest updates in windows. I think it was kB 4100037 or something close to that. Remove it, and the overclocks seem to work after that.

Nope...sorry. RS5 is completely past that. As far as RS5 is concerned the mcupdate_genuineintel.dll that is updated with the carpy code is integrated. So there is nothing to remove, to uninstall. The fix now is it take ownership of that file, rename or delete it and replace it with a version prior to the patch. I used the July version in SXS backup. Works perfect.

I sure hope Microsoft fixes this issue before RS5 goes RTM.

Pro tip: save a copy of mcupdate_genuineintel.dll.  Who knows when or if intel/MS will fix this. After all, it's been months already  and they've still not patched the way around it.

Why would you bury this important fix for X99 users in the general section?  No wonder there's less participation here.

In soviet russia, forums do you.

X99 overclocking affected? EVGA boards too? Belongs in the X99 forums as a sticky as far as I'm concerned. But no one asked me, so I'll gaffer off.

My understanding it is really a Pre-Release Non RTM Release of Windows 10 issue only on the Broadwell E Intel CPU.
It is also looking like the October Release of Window 10 to RTM is being delayed for lots of issues.
Known as Windows 10 Redstone 5 Version 1809. But then we will all have to wait and see.
But I see no need for an Pre-Release Non-RTM Version of Windows to go anywhere but here or maybe under Computer Industry News.

I hate to be "that guy" but I mean I'm pretty sure somewhere in the agreement of using Insider Builds there's a clause where you accept that there's a chance you will find instability. If it's your daily driver system, and you want stability, stop using Insider Builds...

This is not an issue that EVGA needs to correct an any Bios, it is a Microsoft issue that they need to fix before they release this version of Windows to RTM.

Of course, it still annoys me this thread was buried by a mod because now, RS5 makes this even more difficult to get around. EVGA needs to issues a ucode update to the X99 BIOS for Broadwell-E to fix the incompatibility with the intel ucode integrated with the OS
