If the 780 Ti does not support 4 Way SLi and does not come in a 6GB+ variant, it will be a long wait until Maxwell for me. 3GB for 4K gaming is not enough and I would never understand Nvidia releasing a fully enabled GK110 part with only 3GB.

Could not have said it better.

Thank you,

Guys easy, easy...wait little, they will launch with 6GB, maybe not immediately with reference models.
They need to see first AMD performance of non reference models.
When we need two card from same generation because NVIDIA leave AMD to beat their fans with reference models or R9-290X.
Terrible. Only who upgrade after 3 months will be stronger than AMD.

Some advice, I presently run SLI Surround using a pair of GTX 670's to drive three 1920 X 1200 Samsung 24" monitors. They do a great job and because I do not use the rig for shooters much I have been happy with them and the overall performance.
I am building a new rig (i7 4930 or 4960 loaded rig in a 900D case). I want to stay with just two GPU's. I am thinking of two 780 Ti's. I do a lot of multithreaded work and as far gaming, mostly Skyrim, Civ 5, Rome II Etc. all at 5760 X 1200.
How well does this group think a pair of the upcoming 780 Ti's will do for me? Also, If I replace my 60 Hz monitors with 120 or 144 Hz monitors will they still meet my needs?

Ugh. Just another thing to make me regret buying my 780 SC at launch. Keep it coming EVGA and Nvidia, smash us loyal supporters even farther into the dirt.

I wouldn't say they're smashing their loyal supporters, you have to know when buying any product at launch is going to bring a premium and that most likely in the computer business that within a year a better product will come out and lower prices. It just so happens that product belongs to AMD affording the competition to lower their prices to compete. I wish I would have known that when I bought my 680 earlier this year that the 780 was around the corner, I would of been willing to have paid 700 for it than to have bought what is consider outdated now.

Buy it the first week pay the highest price, buy it after a new one has been announced and pay a much lower price. Once I decide I then keep what I have just bought for two generations, skipping one. I am glad they are continuing to release improved products. If price were the key factor I would get the 780. If whatever I am looking at has been out for over six months I have to assume that sometime in the next six months or sooner there will be a new one.

With the horsepower the 780tis are rumored to have, yes. Are you running 670 4gbs? I was running sli titans surround 1080p on BF4 ultra preset and noticed I was at 3.1+ Mem usage. I have been planning on scaling down to a single 144hz since my surround days are probably ending even though it's amazing!

They are actually 2 Gb units. I had 580's but the fan went out on one of them so EVGA replaced them both (great service BTW) with a pair of 670's which did an even better job than the older 580's. For the new rig I want to get the top end as I will keep them for a few years but I want to stay with just two GPU's. I am willing to wait for a month or so but I want to finish this rig before CES in early January.

Hi DBaer8.

What I would recommend for you is to either pick up 2 Titans at a discount or wait to see if the 780 Ti will come out in 6GB. I was gaming with 2x GTX 590s (1.5 GB VRAM) at first on a 1080p/60Hz 55' Sony XBR and with a heavily modded Skyrim (50+ mods) at this paltry resolution I ran out of VRAM. That's when I upgraded to the cards in my sig (680 4GB). I am sure that with higher resolutions/refresh and/or multi monitor like your setup, I would not touch a GPU with less than 4GB VRAM with a 10 foot pole. I am planning on getting the Panasonic TC-L65WT600 for my new build and I will not get a GPU with less than 6GB. There are gamers here on the forums that got to 5 GB VRAM usage at 4K/60 (http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=2025309 Post #21). I love modding games and at the higher resolutions/refresh rates, VRAM is a must.

I hope this helps.

I can't see Nvidia releasing a 6gb card this generation. The Titan is there for that exact reason. It's a bridge between their render cards and their gaming cards.

Maybe they will release a Titan Ti also, but I can't see a 780 ti with 6gb RAM. I just wouldn't make sense.

Also, I'm just going to put this out there... Are we starting to lose our minds a little bit over VRAM usage? I've currently got 3gb of usable VRAM and I have no problems running @1440p, 120hz. I know this isn't 4k, but do you really believe in the 1+ years it will take for the next series of cards to arrive that 4k will be attainable for most people? I don't think so.

1600p has been out for a VERY long time, and very few people (in the grand scheme of things) use it. Most are still on 1080p or 1080p by 3, and put simply, 3gb is enough for this application. With enough grunt, I've got seen a single game struggle due to VRAM.

Finally, if you are an early adopter and want to pickup a 4k monitor, then you most likely have enough money to also pickup some Titans. So as far as I can see, Nvidia have covered all logical bases...

Yes, a 6gb 780ti classified would be awesome, but do I think it will come... No, am I super depressed about that fact, No, not really. I would simply get a Titan...

You're buying a 55" TV to play computer on? Are you going to be sitting on the other side of the room? I think 4k at 55" will actual give you a worse image up close than current 1600p tech.

For example:

Your Panasonic TC-L65WT600 is 3840x2160 @ 55" which works out:
  • Display size: 47.88" × 27.07" = 1296.08in² (121.61cm × 68.76cm = 8361.78cm²) at 79.79 PPI, 0.3183mm dot pitch, 6366 PPI²
Were a Dell 30" 3014 is 2560x1600 @ 30" which works out:
  • Display size: 25.44" × 15.9" = 404.49in² (64.62cm × 40.39cm = 2609.64cm²) at 100.63 PPI, 0.2524mm dot pitch, 10126 PPI²

So up close the Dell will look better as the pixels are smaller, also the view area while smaller will allow you to sit at a normal computer desk and not recommended 2.1m - 3.5m away as you would require for a 55" TV.

I get where you are coming from but there are a couple reasons why I do not agree with your assessment:

a) The Titan is still better than the 780Ti for compute applications, double precision, etc... Nvidia purposely gimped the 780 Ti in that front and will keep the Titan for that reason. As the Titan was a dumbed down version of a Quadro when it came out, the Ti is a dumbed down version of a fully enabled Quadro Variant with 12GB that cost an arm and a leg.

b) 4 Way SLi is being re enabled with the Ti. (http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/galaxytech_geforce_gtx_780_ti_spec_sheet_leaks.html) . That alone indicates that the Ti is replacing the Titan as the top dog for gaming.

c) Nvidia emphasis in 4K with their Battlebox initiative (for GAMERS). Neither the Titan or the 780 Ti as it stands, with only 3GB VRAM, is definitively beating the 290x in 4K resolution and a 6GB variant of the 780 Ti would definitely be needed to correct that.

d) The only reason that the Ti does not cost $1000+ is because of the price of the 290x. The Titan is a more affordable option for the professional crowd. As it has been said multiple times, the Titan was never a strictly gaming oriented GPU, which the Ti is.

Obviously only time will tell which of us is correct. I see no reason why Nvidia would release a fully enabled GK110 part with not enough VRAM to compete for the 4K enthusiast crowd.

Nobody in their right mind would buy a Titan when the 290x can be had for half the cost and same/better performance (http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/61629-amd-radeon-r9-290x-vs-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-4k/?page=5), which the exact predicament I am in on right now and clearly shows that Nvidia did not cover all logical bases. Unfortunately for me, I do not buy GPUs outside of EVGA (I have my reasons), so If there is no 6GB variant of the Ti, I will not buy any GPUs until Maxwell comes out.

My 2 cents .

This, the Titan Z just shows Maxwell will be late, at 1080p  gaming would much rather have a GTX 780 TI over a 780 6gb card if you are coming from a 500 or 600 series on a single display.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I do want some better performance in BF4 though so I think I may capitalize on the price drop and go SLI.

Does your BF4 performance suck too?  I have 3570K @ 4.5 and windows 7 with stuttering and lower FPS than what everyone else claims to be getting.

Did you Unpark your CPU cores?  I had the same problem.  I can't believe that actually worked.  But it did!
