Bought a RTX 3080 for the over priced tag of $1200
 
Fan stopped spinning.
 
RMA a 3 month old gpu got a used one that died with the same issue 2 month later.
 
So the replaced it with a B Bin XC3 Ultra Gaming, and now this one is has a fan dying, but instead of the last one furthest away from the displayport its the first one.
 
The first 3 died on a I7 9700K 32Gb ram 750watt psu build.
 
While waiting for this last replacement I upgraded to 13700K, 32GB ddr5, Z690 aroua Elite AX and a 850w Gold PSU.
 
So my entire rig is new, so I can safely say it's not the hardware.  Also my evga 760 and evga 1080ti never had issues.
 
 
My mother just got diagnosed with double breast cancer and I have a hernia, this is the last thing I need before the holidays.  I dont have $800 to $1200 to buy a new gpu and it takes evga 2 to 3 weeks everytime I have to RMA the card.
 
 
Who do I complain to about the QC?  I am so frustrated its not even funny.  I have been a EVGA loyalist since the 760, and this just sucks.!! Video coming in a sec but its not best quality.

these xc3 ultra cards are cheap and I regret this purchase so much.  I am gonna have to rma this, but what the hell is the point, if evga is going to just keep replacing trash with trash?
 
And yes, I am calling the xc3 trash before 4 gpus in under a year should not die.  I am disabled and on a fixed income.  I have to schedule a ride every time I need to go out.  This is frustrating me to no end.  
 
My software is updated to v1.3.7 and I have never overclocked it.   Idle temps are going from 26 to 30 when the middle fan dies and its making a non stop noise like paper over a fan

The fans are the weakest link on these cards. After going through so much trouble already, and now that GPU prices are a lot lower than they used to be, EVGA should offer you a better card as a replacement. Especially if you had to send the cards back with your own money.
 
Depending on where you live, you might be able to seek for purchase annulment. But in this case you would lose some money as they would take account the time you used the card(s).
 
If the card is otherwise working, maybe it's time to do a deshroud mod? Just ziptie three 92mm or two 120mm fans on the heatsink. I went a bit further than that, thou. I got tired of my 3080 Ti's loud fans and followed THIS excellent guide. I used NH-A9x14 PWMs that I had laying around and connected them to a fan header on my motherboard. Fan Control takes care of them.
 
After repasting, using thermal putty and undervolting my card runs pretty cool and quiet. The way it should have done from the day one.

My gpu appears to be working, the middle fan isnt 100% dead yet, its running at only 220 rpm, and rattling like one of those musical instruments. As long as my gpu is under warranty I dont want to mess with it, and risk voiding anything.  I also can not afford to replace the gpu at this time, even with the price reductions.  I paid $1200 for the gpu.  Then spent all my pc saving on a new pc (13700K)  I am on a fixed income and it takes me a while to save, as I am disabled and I dont have much spare money, I chose evga because its the only gpu I ever used, from 760, to 980 to 1080ti and now this one.
 
I tried to trouble shoot it.  Turned the pc off, removed the gpu, confirmed those 3 ables are connected and no wires in the way.  Everything looks fine.  But the rattling started yesterday and at first I thought it was the case fan, but today I paid more attention and my heart sank. My gpu doesnt have any heat issues(I am sure that will change soon, since the middle fan is 1 leg in the grave.
 
I am just so distraught.  I suffer from Aagoraphobia, Tourette Syndrome (its no the swearing that misunderstood comedians seem to think it is, its a neurological disorder of involuntary muscle movement, and a few other issues.   My PC is literally my life line to the world, and with the stress of family, this was the last thing I needed.
 
 
RMAing my gpu again just feels like eating glass.  What is the point?  I feel like in 4 month it will die again.
 
3/22/22 bought the gpu
less than 4 month it was rmad
less than month after that is was rmad
and now 2 month later the B grade replacement is dying, but wit the middle fan.  
 
And evga doesnt make gpus anymore, so I dont even know if they would consider giving me a better card.  I would love the RTX 3080 FTW version.  My 1080 ti was the FTW version but only stock was the xc3 and I 100% regret it now.

You should have only paid for the first one. It's something you basically have to request.

Yeah I didnt know that at the time, never having had to rma anything in my life.  This 3080 has been a great deal of stress and a huge regret.

The fan is on auto, the temp on that screen shot is 32C. It's not gonna spin until it gets hot.

If their staff has already ok'd that many RMAs, and even the latest replacement is acting up, I'd expect EVGA to do their utmost not only to fix this problem but to make sure that their customer is satisfied.
 
OP. can you force the middle fan to spin faster with X1, MSI Afterburner or Fan Control? I know there are some places that sell replacement fans, but that would cause additional cost to you. Removing the fanshroud and replacing the fans is pretty simple, thou.

The card is under warranty and I really rather not mess with it and risk any voiding or issues.
 
The first 2 rma the fan was on the end of the card, farthest from the dp access.   This one is the middle.  It has a huge buzzing sound and will go from 1300 to 200 while the other 2 stay normal then suddenly the fan will stop 100% then after 10 seconds begin the buzzing again. I removed the gpu, confirmed nothing was causing blockage, even used my air can to spin test and it spins, but seems to be dying, not yet 100% dead.

Sorry if I am a bit rambled I am stressed.  I have the numbers mixed up.

First one needed RMA in July 2022
2nd one needed RMA in September 2022
Now this one will be #3 (December)
 
Not sure why I said 4, I am just very stressed between life issues and my pc having issues with the gpu.

I do not over clock my cpu or GPU, I just always liked the K variant cpus for the performance.  I am a bit of a brand loyalist  I never registered my 760 or 980 because they were no that expansive and I was still new to pc hardware.  I registered my GTX 1080ti FTW and my god, I LOVED that card.  It was a MONSTER card that never had issues.

They only had the evga RTX 3080 xc3 LHR for $1200 and I didnt know when gpus would ever return so I broke every swear jar I had saved up(lol) and snagged it.  Im gonna have those swear jars filled in no time at this rate :(

Just buy some replacement fans off aliexpress.com, and replace the bad one yourself.

You are a moderator for EVGA and you are suggesting that I break my warranty in an attempt to fix the fan, and if the issue was something more than what I thought is a fan issue, I am really in trouble.  Sorry, maybe if I didnt have an active warranty I would try that, but EVGA is being awesome and standing by their product.
 
Antonio and @JaesonW are resolving the issue for me.   But I appreciate your advice and will consider than if I ever need for post warranty.

It won't break your warranty if you keep the defective fan and reinstall it if you need to RMA for a different issue in the future.

I would never rma a gpu because of just a fan dying and risk getting some beat up used card.  You can get replacement fans off aliexpress for the price of what it would cost to ship the card back to evga.

Well dang, hopefully they get the package moving quickly and you can get the package quickly still.
