Good evening guys,

I have two evga GTX 970's with a SLI bridge, however SLI always says disabled.

Now both cards are identified in MSI afterburner...What do you you all think?

Any help would be great, also my BIOs are updated and support SLI
Setup
i-7 4790 CPU
16 gigs DDR3
two GTX 970 SSC
64bit

Lets see what I can find.  I think some of the 970 might of had limited SLI compatibility - not sure

Which 970 model numbers do you have / are the both the same?

    What MB ?

What SLI bridge are you using / have a spare for testing / maybe one came with your MB ?

Are you following the MB "SLI - population Rules" ? (using the recommended Slots for 2-way SLI)

This can indicate an issue with one of the two cards. I would recommend testing the two cards individually in games or benchmarks to see if one card has issues that the other does not (crashing, black screens, etc). Are both cards the exact same model, and did the SLI work previously?

Does not seem to be an issue if they are both 970 SSC - GTX 970 and SLI functionality. FAQ ID # 59534

Look in the MB manual, the PCIe slots that you should use would be listed.

    sabertooth Z97 manual

tweaktown review ASUS Z97 SaberTooth Mark 1

    guru3D review ASUS Z97 SaberTooth Mark 1

You have three long PCIe slots - USE the white & brown ones - (Not the black one on the bottom of the MB)

    For the Model EVGA number:
You need to look at the EVGA sticker on: back of GPU card, the box they came in, or online if you registered them

These TWO would Not SLI together as they are in different columns in the FAQ link above - FAQ ID # 59534

This doesn't show the model number. The format should be like this: 04G-P4-XXXX-KR if they are both EVGA 970's. Let us know if you are able to locate these model numbers so we can check compatibility for you.

I've experienced similar if the two cards are not in the right PCIe slots. Windows will even suggest enabling SLI, but you can't.

The motherboard manual should suggests the optimal two slots to use.

Could the difference in the Bios cause this SLI Issue?
    84.04.31.00.70
    84.04.36.00.72

Have you reversed the SLI Bridge?
Also move the SLI Bridge to the Other SLI Forks and test.

The BIOS should not have any effect in SLI compatibility. Generally the BIOS updates are used to address specific issues but should not break SLI.

What I have done so far, I took out the both cards, tried both individually, both worked fine.  Updated drivers on one because it needed it (newest one I bought) redid everything and still getting the same screen.  I have a new SLI bridge coming in tommarow, I hope that works....also here are the numbers for the cards

If it's KB, then that one was bought at Best Buy. A BB exclusive. The other one was not purchased at BB. You sure the specs of both cards are exactly the same? Best Buy cards are usually slightly different. I wouldn't Sli those two together.

Re: SLI disabled, wont enable 2017/04/17 02:25:28 (permalink)
It seems clear to me that your 970's will not SLI because a 3975 is not SLI compatible with a 3979, no matter how many bridges you try..Only cards with part numbers in the same column in the compatibility list (as previously mentioned) will SLI together.

You need to return/exchange one of the cards somehow and get/buy one that's compatible with the other in the list..The card with a -KB warranty suffix is a card from Best Buy, as stated above..You can contact EVGA Support and see what they suggest and if they will help you out any.

If you're in a pinch, you can try the DifferentSLIAuto tool v1.4 to patch the graphics driver which may allow you to SLI cards that are normally not SLI compatible..The instructions for installing DifferentSLIAuto are included in the download..Me, I would try the tool right now just for kicks to see if/how it works.
