Hi Guys, i just received a card upgrade for my RMA (quite happy :D). Model is different but the part number tied to my new serial number is still the same as my old one. How do i deal with future warranty issues? Even the sticker on the gpu is still the same (old) part number, correct serial number though. Thank you so much!!

You are going to need to clarify a good bit. What do you mean the model is different but the part number is the same?
The warranty doesn’t change, it remains the same as the original part, and the new part should be warranties in your “my products” page, and should show the remaining warranty time for what the original part had.

I checked OP's previous posts and they were having problems with a fan on a 3080 FTW Ultra. That may have been the RMA. The rest of the post I don't understand.

Hi Sorry. Let me rephrase my question. I sent my 3080 Ultra FTW for RMA (faulty fan) and got a 3090 Ultra FTW in return. Was given a new serial number which is reflected on 1) my products page, 2) Sticker on GPU and 3)the box but the model/part number on the products page, gpu and box remains 10G-P5-3897 (3080 Model). What happens if i have an issue with my replacement 3090? Thanks!

I would also contact Tech Support, because the mismatch may cause you problems in the future if you ever need a warranty claim.

Yeah, if you sent a 3080 in and everything says it is a 3080 but you got a 3090, that is absolutely a mistake. If you have to RMA in the future, you will absolutely get a 3080 back as that was what you paid for, especially since all of the labels state that you got a 3080 back. wiwi20 Hi Sorry. have you checked the card's info in other places, like in precision? I know they said with the latest precision update (or rather, the latest firmware update) the some third party programs might have problems properly identifying the card, like GPUz https://twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/1430609512185032706?s=20 I don't however know the details of exactly what isn't working right but I did see this message on twitter from Jacob: "This release implements a new checksum to verify the correct monitoring data. Note that external monitoring applications may need an update, we have been working with GPU-Z and HWinfo devs." that said, it might in fact be that you got a 3090 instead of a 3080 by mistake, and the checksum changes mentioned don't change or impact what card shows up (I'm also assuming the 3090 has the latest firmware as well in this case and has those changes)

If they don't have the same card, you could get a card similar in performance, or better in return.

The box, the cooler, the serial number, and the registered product on the EVGA website all say 3080, but GPU-z says 3090. That is not an upgrade due to lack of stock, that is a mistake. They don’t upgrade by giving an upgraded PCB with all of the wrong original information mismatching the PCB. wiwi20 They want me to return the card. Does the card have an NVlink fingers? That is a tell-tale sign since no other 3000 series GPU’s have NVlink capability. And yes, if you paid for a 3080, you should get a 3080. There is no telling how a 3090 ended up with a 3080 serial number or if that 3090 even has the correct thermal pads on the back. Hopefully EVGA can expedite you a card back to make the wait shorter.

Its a 3090. Hopefully a rep can come in and resolve this. The question is if 1) i can return this when it becomes faulty or 2)can i pay a fee to retain this card. I felt like i won the lottery :( Thanks!

It’s sad to hear that they want it back but I kind of wonder if it might have problems if it someone had the wrong firmware loaded or something.

That's rough man. Did EVGA make it right and allow you to keep the card due to their failure to appropriately inventory their stock?
