The Raptor is a 27" diagonal monitor sporting an IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. That many pixels tick along at a rate of 144 Hz and 1 ms response time - which is made fluid and jitter-free with recourse to AMD's FreeSync. Additionally, the panel sports the lowest available HDR certification in the form of HDR 400, with brightness levels of 420 nits. Razer is quoting a 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut on the "edge-to-edge" monitor. The Raptor also features support for Razer's Chroma and a RGB LED on the base of the aluminium stand, which incorporates a built-in CNC cable management solution running through the back. The Razer Raptor can now be pre-purchased for $699. I like the RGB at the base of the monitor stand.

Seems nice, but I just don't trust Razer for quality .

1ms? Yeah ok, I bet this is like the LG27GL850 that also claims 1ms on an IPS, but it's completely useless for gaming at that setting and is really just a decent standard IPS monitor with 5ms response time if you want to game on it. Wondering if it's actually the same panel - sure sounds like it.

But who pays $700 for a monitor? Crazy.
$700 would be more then reasonable if it was 4K but it's not. Since this monitor is only 1440p and lacks G-Sync I wouldn't think it's worth spending more then about $500 on. It kind of blows the whole quality and the product being good out the window when it's not really better then the name brand competition yet costs more. As for the quality of the software does anyone really buy a monitor based on the software? You might configure it once a year but a lot of people won't even do that and again I am sure every name brand is about equal in quality for the software. As for packaging is it really worth $200 in packaging and really other name brands can get you a package that won't be damaged.

As for the quality of the software does anyone really buy a monitor based on the software?
It's got RGB in the base of the monitor which syncs with all other Razer RGB devices which you are using. The Razer software simply works. EVGA's software rarely 100% works. I never said that this monitor is worth $700 or that the packaging is worth $200. All I said is that their products, packaging/presentation, and software are unquestionably good. Razer puts a lot of worth work into those aspects before releasing a product. Their support? I imagine it is good, but I have never had to contact them; so I don't know. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a monitor. I know that means I can't have the latest and greatest, but that's fine with me.

I am basing my opinion on only my experiences with them-
I owned 2 Razer products - both failed prematurely & one of them, I was given a shoddy, refurbed replacement keyboard. ( that also didn't last )
I would find it extremely hard to ever buy / use them again.
Same as Viewsonic. They gave me a run around for over 4 months on a monitor...never used them again.
