Really good trouble shooting guide that would be a great place for people to start but I want people to know you can always turn to the EVGA support for help.

Yep, that's why contact support is mentioned twice and highlighted once in bright yellow.

- There are steps every end user should take before calling a company for support, and 50% of the steps I've listed are a diagnostic based approach, and I intentionally left out methods which if utilized would cause their support staff complications in their trouble shooting process.

Before joining the military at 20, I worked tech support for a few major hardware manufacturers.  In fact it's all the steps I took, and immediately informed EVGA support of when I originally called them in regards to my RTX.   The support agent had nothing further to add to the troubleshooting steps out side of a new PSU, or a potential RMA of the card.

If someone follows these steps before calling in they'll save everyone involved a ton of time :P

I am really surprised how no one is talking about this issue like it's not happening with people. So my evga ftw3 after every other boot gives me 3 red lights and the middle fan speeds to the maximum. I get it. My card is stuck in flash mode. But i mean is there gonna be any fix? Because the MCU update clearly didn't work for me.

Did you check to see if you had micron or Samsung memory?

People are definitely talking about that specific error on the forums.

I haven't experienced that specific error, so I don't really know what steps to take out side of calling tech support. It honestly sounds memory related like the flash is corrupting. I don't know if the vram is tied to the bios config.

With no way to purge the error I feel like it sounds like a potential rma issue.

Re: Dan's RTX Trouble Shooting flow. 2019/03/20 14:02:57 (permalink)
Allow me to regress back to good performance...

Currently using 418.91-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.

I had resorted to using a single Monitor for gaming on 2080-ti, because it simplified problem solving.

But, I discovered today that GTA V performs perfect with my Main Monitor plus two additional monitors (used for Desktop) enabled on 2080-ti.

I use a three monitor setup similar to many:

1. Main Monitor (the one in my sig. G-Sync 1440p)
2. Extend Windows Desktop. (1280 x 1024)
3. Hardware Monitoring Monitor and Clipboard Gadget. (1280 x 1024)

So a new Test I devised today is as follows:
Gaming performance on Main Monitor while gaming with and without my 2nd and 3rd monitors...

In the recent past before getting a 2080-ti (when I only had used in single card mode or SLI mode 1070's or 1080-ti's),
some games were fine with all three monitors enabled; but some games only performed optimal with my 2nd and 3rd monitors disabled. (Therefore the latter was a bummer, because Real-time Monitoring of Hardware would have to be performed OSD. And it isn't worth the hassle. Yes, I do use RivaTuner for OSD of FPS, but only for FPS.)

So I had to keep track of which games performed well with all three monitors enabled. (There were a small minority that didn't perform well. But they performed so poorly, it was like Night and Day.)

From past experience I disabled my 2nd and 3rd monitor for games... such as those recently tested on this thread:
Far Cry 5 and GTA V.

So the conclusion of today's testing is:
GTA V (using same Rez as previous posts on this thread... 1440p @200% RS = 5120x2880), performed just as well with as it did without my 2nd and 3rd monitors. w00t! w00t! w00t!

Desktop SS for reference

Imagine a cute puppy swimming in ^^ stream?

I'm so happy now (having cleared yet another RTX hurdle).

nice! :P yea the RTX cards keep coming out on top despite what the nay sayers claim.  I've decided to do another upgrade next week i've got some 3200 DDR4 coming in to replace my 2666, won't make much of a difference but i'm using 2 4gb sticks and 2 8 gb sticks left over from previous builds so there will be a decent ram speed and capacity upgrade on the board... plus Corsair rbg :P

Cool. Good Memory should not be forgotten- overlooked.

I figured out Movies...

This is a story of a young soldier.

Starts out with him being shot in the leg with a poison arrow.

He completes a short mission in his Attack Chopper outside a cave and hopes to find clues of the whereabouts of the bad guy that shot him with the poison arrow.

Then it ends after landing his Attack Chopper when he spots the bad guy from a hilltop then orders a squad member with a bow to go shoot the bad guy with the her own poison arrows.

Far Cry 5
-All Ultimate Settings
-200% Resolution Scaling = 5120x2180
-2560x1440 G-Sync LCD

Not bad for my 1st vid?

Now, regardless of the quality of the video and FPS, the game-play is as I said many times, as smooth as butter because of G-Sync.

2080-ti ROCKS!

Nice yea the encoding cores and the ability to clip and save video with Nvidia is so often over looked. It has almost 0 effect on performance. Nvenc was a game changer.

^^ encoded ideas already planted in my brain... lol ty

After a couple days of research I just purchased,

VEGAS Movie Studio 15 Platinum Steam Edition

^^ $34.99 (50% Off $69.99) (only 36+ hours on sale.)

I'll be able to really take advantage of my SDDs, CPU, 32 GB RAM, and GPU.

Edit:
While researching Vegas MM before I get started I just came across,

"VEGAS Movie Studio now utilizes the NVENC technology in modern Nvidia graphics card to provide hardware-accelerated rendering to the MAGIX AVC/AAC format" (Vegas Movie Studio 15 Platinum Review: Changes from 14)

Re: Dan's RTX Trouble Shooting flow. 2019/04/27 12:45:40 (permalink)
Past three days finally got around to figuring out Vegas Movie Studio 15 Platinum.

But it was after learning how to disable Ansel in Tom Clancey’s  Ghost Recon Wildlands; so i could make a vid with all Maxed video settings and 2x Resolution Scaling in GRW. It is gorgeous and very playable.

As the vid description says:
Heli-Sights... Sky-Dives... Looks-Around... Ground-Pounds... Fire-Fights... Heli-Fights.

Tested ^^ to see whether or not using G-Sync, with an RTX2080-ti, would result in smooth play at very low FPS and all Maxed out video settings (no AA) in Ghost Recon Wildlands. (Includes 2x Resolution Scaling on a 1440P G-Sync LCD.)

All without having played GRW in months; was able to stay alive until the very end of video. (Due to forgetting the safe distance to stay away from another attack chopper.) : D

There’s so much to learn with Vegas Movie Studio 15 Platinum, but I might snag Vegas Pro Edit Steam Edition for -75% Off, until May 9, ’19.
