WC is perfectly safe and is better then anything you can do on air

Definitely not better, and liquid is only "unsafe" if you do things incorrectly.  I just finished putting together my first full custom loop that cools both the CPU & GPU ever, and it was pretty easy overall, just took some patience & double checking to make sure the fittings were tight to avoid leaks (which I had none, first try on a loop this big too).  Compression fittings with soft tubing is very easy and very safe.

Just adding my experience.. installed my block today and have barely played a couple hours of games. I replaced all stock pads with Gelid Ultra with is 15 w/k and a bit squishy and also used KPX for the TIM. I am seeing about a ~15 delta right now between the GPU die and water which seems in line with others. Thankfully though my mem temps are mostly staying in the 50's.

I (as close as possible) duplicated 0.937 volts but set clocks at 2055 clocks dropped to 2025 some minutes in. ran 15 minutes total, I'm at two twins confer, the bar in first town balcony.

Tomb raider 4k, I ran no DLSS or raytracing, Put what I could on ultra.

My block came with both sides (4) already capped. so I just left it and ran my IN and OUT from top ports.
I got maybe substandard parts, cause they were in stock at my Microcenter, and I did not feel like ordering online. ( I was in a hurry I guess)

Corsair HydroX XD3 Pump/Res combo
Bitspower leviathan XF 360
EK Vardar fans I had laying around.
One bitspower temp sensor Used as my out of block temp.
One older I think XSPC? temp sensor used as my entering block temp from radiator.

GPU only in loop.

I used all stock pads that came with kit, except I used some kryonaut I had for GPU core.

RES/Pump>rad>block>back to RES/Pump.

room temp 22C . At 15 mins in I had 27C leaving radiator. And 28C Leaving block, Only about 1C increase? Does not seem right.

GPU core hit just about 40C

I will say My memory temps seem MUCH better with the block

It looks like I had 11-12C delta then.

I was NOT able to gain anything on the core, and my memory already ran 1500 I do not want to load PX1 to try higher.

Does anyone here have a 3080Ti FTW?? I'm looking for a waterblock for it and I think that the EK 3090 evga waterblock will fit just fine. Has anyone tried this? Obvi I'd prefer a hydrocopper, but who knows when I'll get my Q message. Hell, I've been waiting like what... 9 months? for my 3080 Q message. Luckily I got in pretty early for the hydrocopper Kingpin with the Elite program. But yea, can anyone help me with this waterblock 3080ti ftw issue? I want to know exactly how well it fits and if the instructions correspond the same for either card.

Register your products with my code please! I'll make it worth your while ;)

Why do you need the 3090 block when you can get the 3080 FTW block? You can double check with EK but as I understand it, blocks for the 3080 models fit the same models on the Ti.

is there a 3rd party waterblock for the kingpin? i got a hybrid coming, but i would like to build a custom loop. $300 for EVGA's block that doesn't actively cool the back seems excessive. and i can't get one even if i wanted to. been in queue for one forever. still no notifications

two things,

1. no one asked

2. it WAS unsafe like 15 years ago when we had to jerryrig parts sold in boat shops and home improvement stores (hope depot, lowes, etc) that were never meant for this application, but there is nothing inherently unsafe about water cooling these days. there are purpose built, idiot proof parts and pre-made coolants available at low prices everywhere. if the loop is unsafe, then it's a user problem, not a water cooling problem.

I've gone down the custom loop rabbit hole and now I'm just going for AIO's and hybrid gpu's to save the headache in maintaining a loop.

Can someone tell me which which way I should hook my water loop up to the HC kingpin. The arrows on the block point one way but the instruction say I should hook up the loop with the input being the one closest to HC’s multi gpu connector.

Only potential headache is when you have to swap out parts. Even with coolant you just flush it periodically and refill. You can go distilled water for years and have to do nothing except top up assuming you stay with same parts.

Custom loop is the best and it’s fun putting it together. Try it out.

Are the thermal pads in the kit all 2mm size?
