I understand the issues with not being able to ship sufficient GPU's, chip shortage is real, but this is ridiculous .. is a stupid WB, why you need to wait in a queue for it I don't understand.

Because they need to manufacture just enough that they aren't losing money on them with unsold units given its a niche product, and unfortunately we live in a world where literally anything in short supply will be scalped. That said they should have at least added a reserve/partial payment preorder a few months ago to give them a better idea on what the demand would ultimately be rather than a panicked notify button.

Totally agree. That would have made A WHOLE LOT MORE SENSE and they could have scaled production based on a known demand. I would have even been willing to pay in full up front. Somebody will blame it on COVID, LOL.

Well after enough people complain that finding products available for sale randomly isn’t fair, EVGA is trying to offer a fair platform that sells them on a first request basis so that you wait in a fair line rather than to the person who constantly checks the website. Or really, the person employing a bot, which usually means a scalper.

Now people are whining about the attempt to be fair.

Sadly it doesn’t seem it doesn’t matter how hard EVGA tries, there will always be complainers.

Dude (JealousBlue as I see brother Fox posted in between :D) we are in April (end of the month) ... EVGA have concerns about what ? 
 
1. they don't make money with this .. or they make an irrelevant amount, let's say 40% of the price  x 100 blocks .. is NOTHING for EVGA and this is an EXAGGERATION ... they don't make nowhere near that amount.
2. loosing money ? there are GTMS for a reason, they have, for sure a great sales and marketing team that can easily approximate (based on previous years/models) forecast how many they need to make to be on the safe side (in other words don't loose a dolar) 
3. payed preorder .. yes, but why now ? why not back in November/December timeframe, when the Kingpin card was launched ... if "loosing money" was a concern
 
I feel like this product is just for the EVGA hardcore fans and the experience should have been a lot better considering the times we are living, a lost opportunity to give us that "normality glimpse" that you can go on a website and buy something without waiting, without being frustrated that it sold out before you could press buy.
 
Anyway ... my 2 cents. 

1. Think you are grossly underestimating the profit margin EVGA makes on it's higher tier cards, they do also sell the 3080 hydrocopper in far greater numbers, which would divert manufacturing from that as well.
2. I can almost guarantee EVGA does not have the slightest clue how to forecast this year/last year, no one does. Given the chip shortage and 3080's being resold for 1800-2k you have untold THOUSANDS waiting on the Kingpin hybrid queue alone. Not sure if you have peaked in the Kingpin hybrid wait threads but there were many people still wait listed... people who may not even be able to get this card...planning on jumping in and buying this block. So yeah, as far as what to produce I'm sure it was a big question mark.
3. I mentioned that the "Preorder" should have been months ago, so we are in agreeance on that point.
 
The last point is basically a difference in opinion on whether these would have been botted/scalped if a open drop was done, I have less faith in humanity and think it would have been, you don't.

I've yet to see the first "Order confirmed 3090 kingpin Hydro copper!" listing on ebay, maybe they did only make one block 

XD yeah mine definitely won't be showing up on EBay.  Should be here Tuesday, already got the Preparing for Shipment email.
 
One person was listed before me at 10:00:05 in the main queue thread, so there were at least 2 that went out 
 
It is a niche part of a niche part, so I am genuinely curious how many actually were ready to ship today... I messaged Jacob on Twitter about it but I doubt he'll reply with even a rough number. If I had to guess, it'd be pretty derpy to have less than 100 blocks ready, but who knows.  Considering they've probably sold at least 1-2 thousand via the queue at this point, of the actual card, doing at least 25% of the queue's current output in blocks makes sense for an initial launch... but then again who knows what logic they're using for that.
 
I think for starters I'll be doing just adding the card block to the loop, no second radiator, to see how temps are with just the 480mm/60mm thick behemoth handling both, then if the card is running warmer than I expect it to, I'll add the P360 back in up top later.
 
I wonder if the Kingpin AIO actua... oh right, I can't resell it because I have to put it back on if I ever need to RMA the card.  
 
Speaking of, does the Kingpin AIO actually fit other 3090s?  That'd be kind of neat if it does, extra cooling power with a 360 vs 240mm radiator hybrid vs hybrid... or taking a lower tier 3090 & sticking a 360 AIO on it.  Only downside would be you'd need VRM cooling, since the Kingpin VRM heatsinks only work on the KP card.
