I did some investigating on the reported fan 1 speed by my 0.1 refurbished RTX 3090. Not saying this is causing the dead cards, but would be nice to get an explanation. In short, my card keep going slow to real fast in some scenarios. In GPUZ you can see the reported RPM hit 200000 rpm. Of course, the fan is not going that fast, but it really does ramp up and down non-stop (freakin annoying too). I've been trying to check what cause the problematic reporting of the fan and had the idea to put a Y cable from the tach of my fan to a free motherboard tach input. Surprisingly, doing kinda fix the reporting on the GPU monitor and this is what you can see in this video while I plug and unplug that extra cable to my motherboard.... Halo MCC does this too.

Do you have the latest fan controller/MCU firmware installed? (this is different from the VBIOS).

To check, just install the latest version of Precision X1 and run it, at startup if your MCU firmware is out of date it will prompt you to update it.

I don't know if it will make any difference, but some of the patch notes at the bottom specifically mention changes to fan control and the ICX sensors etc so there is a decent chance it will change something.

I'm on the latest X1 and yes the firmware is updated. Maybe it's just me seeing this...

It is a kinda known issue, but I don't believe anyone knows for sure why it happens. There was some speculation (by igorslab.de) that this also had something to do with cards dying while playing NewWorld, but there is no proof the fan rpm thing and the bricked cards are actually related, and might be two seperate issues.

Your card looks like it has the HYBRID BIOS flashed to it due to only reporting 2 fans and it should be 3, or some other MCU issue. We will be reaching out to you.

It does have the hybrid kit on it and flashed hybrid bios. The card did this prior to upgrading the cooler too.
