I received the RTX 2080 XC Black Edition after RMAing my faulty GTX 1080 SC. The 1080 card had only an 8pin power connector. This 2080 has a 8pin and a 6pin. Do I need to run power to both?

Yes, unless you want to see this every time you start your PC..You can try it just for kicks, won't hurt anything.

Obviously, this replacement card did not include cables. Luckily, I have this cable from an older card, will this work? I use this 8 pin connector with the breakway 2 pins to use in the 6pin connector?

That'll work in a pinch for the time being..But you should run two seperate 6-pin and 8-pin (or 6+2 pin like the one you show there) cables to the card. What power supply do you have?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. My current plan is to use a dedicated 8 pin cable (that was going to my old 1080) and also use that dedicated 6(+2) cable as well. My power supply is a EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1

Yep, that's the ticket..You're good. I thought maybe you were talking about a 'Y' cable before.

I'll be honest: I don't remember. I bought the EVGA 1080 2 years ago and it came with extra cables I threw in a box. The EVGA powersupply also came with spare cables, and I threw them in the same box. This powercable, as seen in the photo above, says EVGA, so it could be from either my EVGA 1080 or my EVGA PSU. One thing though, is the cable that was going to my 1080 looks almost identical to this 6+2 cable (aka: the writing) so I'm leaning towards this cable coming with my 1080. Though my 1080 did not use a 6+2 cable, only the 8 pin.

Make sure you're using the PSU's cables ONLY and not someone else's. Have seen some issues when cables are mixed. Grats on your RMA upgrade!

I used the cable and everything appears to be in working order. Just realized the 2070 doesn't have a DVI output so I'll be needing to find a HDMI cable for my 2ndary monitor. No big deal. Thanks for your help everyone!

well, i think you are safe there: I doubt that you can get some cable for "some" psu with your gpu, so it should be something like 2x SATA -> PCIE x6 or 2x Molex -> PCIE x6 or something like that - but not something like PSU -> PCIE x6+2.
