Hey! Long time EVGA user here, I just got my new card (coming from a 960) and launched Shadows of the Tomb Raider to test it out. I turned most settings up to max at 1440p, and ran the benchmark. However, right away I was noticing some very apparent and constant artifacts ranging from small green or white dots, to blobs of flashing rainbow-colored circles. These showed up in the menu too. I restarted my pc and tried again, but got the same result. Though, the second time the game crashed due to the graphics. Phone camera 'screenshot': Edit: link didnt come through. Trying again: imgur.com/a/3GxIYfn Is it likely I got a bad card? Is it game or driver related? One curiosity I have is that the EVGA website says the minimum PSU is 550w, but the box actually says 650w. I dont see other signs of overload on my system though. I ran GPUz which said my GPU got up to a max of around 182w Here are my specs: CPU: Intel i5 4570 RAM: 8GB DDR3 PSU: Corsair 550 Nvidia Driver: latest, 416.34 Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Hello borgcube636! Have you tested with any other games/benchmarks? Would you be able to post screenshots of any artifacting occurring in other programs?

I didn't have time last night to test out other games, but I'll do so tonight and report back. Thanks

Ok, I tried 3DMark Firestorm which displayed some really bad issues (screenshot: imgur.com/a/IeMCKTy) CS:GO had a lot of little green dots flickering. Yeah, I'm thinking its just a bad card. First time that's ever happened! I guess I should start the RMA process unless anyone else has another suggestion?

I had a bad Video Cable that caused this.

Interesting... I am using a DP cable. However, it was working just fine with my GTX 960. I'd try a different one as part of troubleshooting though.

I also have a 2070 XC Ultra. I ran benchmarks with 3DMark and Superposition. No artifacts. Fans kicked on and I couldn't even hear them. Did the most I could with the free versions of each program, and I couldn't get the GPU temp over 62 degC. It didn't even break a sweat.

I'm literally having the EXACT same problem as OP. Just upgraded from GTX 970 which was having some AWFUL screen tearing on all 3 of my monitors. Bought the EVGA GTX 2070 from Amazon on the Black Friday sale. Ran it for 2 days, everything was beautiful. PUBG and CoD ran at everything maxed out (in 2k) at around 90-120fps on my i5-6600k. Then last night, I booted up PUBG, and lo and behold, I got those same weird "colored dots" that look almost like flashing Christmas lights. Then, the game hung...and the whole PC froze. I had to manually reboot. Tried again, same thing. Downloaded fresh drivers off NVIDIA site, installed with the "clean install" option to remove old drivers, and just tested again today, same exact issue. I'm going to try an exchange with Amazon at this point since it's 3 days old, and see if that fixes the issue. Just strange that the first few days ran beautifully and then...utter horror.

how old is your displayport cable ? did this happen since you downloaded the new drivers ? did you try to go back to the older version drivers ?

also did you use DDU to remove ALL the old drivers and settings ? (go with custom install and erase you old settings).

My DP cables are essentially brand new...I have two Samsung 28" QLED monitors that I bought earlier this year that came with their own cables which worked great. When I got the card 2 days ago, I installed it in place of my GTX 970, and everything was fine. 2 days of playing games completely maxed out, no issues. Then when the problems started last night, I tried lowering graphics settings, rebooting, etc, then noticed there was an update that had just come out (I think yesterday) for NVIDIA. I downloaded the update and installed, and the same problems occurred. So I downloaded a fresh copy from the site, but this time I used the "clean install" option. I didn't try DDU, but I've also never had anything but my GTX 970 in here since I did my fresh Windows install earlier this year (I try to do a clean Windows install every year or two). If problems persist with the replacement Amazon card (which will be arriving tomorrow, yay Amazon customer service) I'll give that a shot, however, I have a feeling that after the card got "stress tested" by running some games maxed out, that may have caused the flaws to appear rather quickly.

I should also mention that I work in the A/V field, and I've seen issues with bad cables, so I know what those look like, but typically with a bad cable you will see consistent lines/colors/etc on the screen, not necessarily random lights and artifacts, and they shouldn't cause the whole computer to freeze up. I ran into an issue a few weeks ago where a user at my work had a monitor attached to his laptop that would glitch out with certain colors really badly, and it turned out there was a bent pin on his DVI to DP converter dongle.

UPDATE: New card received Wednesday night...so far, everything is good. Weird though...packaging styles were very different...both had the same print on the outside, but my original card came in a plain black cardboard box with a thin NVIDIA cardboard "sleeve" over it, whereas the replacement card came in a MUCH nicer thick cardboard box that pulled apart (top and bottom) at the middle. The first box was not what I would have thought of for packaging on a high-end card. Wonder if that's replacement packaging the use for repaired RMA devices or something?

Here's the photo of the new packaging. As you can (hopefully) see, it's much higher quality packaging, nicer foam, and a better presentation. Weird.
