Hi, just finished my build with a new EVGA RTX 2070 Super Black edition. Most recent chipset drivers installed as well as nVidia 445.75. Other specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x ASUS ROG B450-i Gaming I have installed Precision X1 since i have noticed that fan 2 is spinning at high speeds once any load is happening. I am able to control Fan 1 and can also see the RPM in the X1 dashboard as well as control it, however fan 2 does not show the RPM and is constantly spinning at high speeds, until i restart my pc. Temperatures are even under medium load very low at 36°. Any ideas on how to get control over the fan? Update 30/04/20: The same old problem is back. Why, i don't know.

I think I'd uninstall PX1 through Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features, clicking "Yes" at the "Do you want to remove Precision X1 setting files" prompt..Then turn off "Fast startup" in Windows Power Options -> Choose what the power buttons do -> Change settings that are currently unavailabe -> Save changes..Then power down your PC and turn off/unplug the PSU for about 5 minutes..Then plug in/power up your PC and install PX1 again. Version 1.0.2.0 seems to be the least problematic version in recent history..Then you could do an in-place upgrade to version 1.0.4.0 (the latest as of now) and see how it rolls. You might also see how the fans act without having PX1 installed.

I saw another post that was really similar to this one. He solved it by re-seating the GPU in the PCIe slot. fan control, temp monitoring, voltage, power, etc. is handled by the pins nearest to the I/O slot if that makes sense. If this group of pins is not properly seated in the PCIe slot, it can cause the problems that you've described. It may be something else, but this is worth checking. It is the little slot on the left of where the card plugs into the PCIe slot (the pins). Here is a link to an imgur post with the exact area I'm talking about circled in red. It is spaced out because new members' links are filtered automatically by the forum. Simply paste the URL and remove spaces. Hope this helps. - https : / / imgur.com / ku3Wi6N

They acted this way without Precision X1 - it was the main reason i installed in in the first place, to get control over the fans. I have now both uninstalled Precision X1 as well as checked my connections and reseated the GPU - I am using a riser cable which came with the case i am using, so i checked both ends of it - everything fits snug now. Still the same problem. I have also opened a support ticket and EVGA is simply suggesting opening an RMA process.

UPDATE: Tried version 10.0.20 now. Fan1 is perfectly fine i can ramp it up, see the rpm and turn it down again. Fan2, i can ramp it up, see 100% load but no visuals on the rpm PLUS i can not turn it down afterwards again. It will just keep moving even though it shows 0%.

UPDATE: - Tried ZOTACs FireStorm software, fan1 can be controlled, fan2 is not controllable - OpenHardwareMonitor detects only 1 fan - EVGA support right away recommends RMA I am using PCIe 2x6+2 cables from my Corsair SF750, could this be a problem?

I don't think so, but it could be and is worth checking before going through the whole RMA process. If you have some spare PCIe cables lying around, test them and see if you have the same problem. Check the actual PWM fan headers on the card. I'm not sure where they would be on the black edition, but generally they will be in the bottom right-hand corner. In my photo above, look at the bottom right and you will see 3 PWM fan headers--each to their own fan on the card (black rectangular things sticking up). This connection may have come loose for fan 2 when the card was being shipped or something.

Thanks for the other tips, i have now accessed the pwm fan header. It was easy to access since it sits right at the end of the card behind a plastic shield. No screws to remove. It was seated tight, though i still removed it and put it back. That seems to have fixed the problem now. Thank you so much!

Excellent! Glad it was something simple like that and you didn't have to RMA the whole thing.

How long have you had the video card?

If you want an RMA contact EVGA first to see if there is any way for you to solve this yourself. EVGA can give you info on the RMA process but you can also start your own RMA by going to the My Products section under MEMBER or here: https://www.evga.com/warranty/rmaprocess/
