PFFT Backlighting is for people that like spending premiums. I got my Blackwidow (normal edition) and it's fine

I'm surprise there are no mention of Roccat Products here such as the Isku...
and the closest place you are able to order it from is Canada.

Well, and update!  Razor gave me an RMA for my keyboard. But, they state that they will be replacing it with a tested working replacement. I called them and got upset. I don't want some other fixed up keyboard that some snot nosed kid abused, and they just fix it and pass it along to me. I take really good care of my stuff, and I told them they either need to fix mine, or send me a new one. I don't want refurbished junk. I spent quite a bit on this keyboard, and now I'm finding their warranty sucks.

This is my first and last Razor product.

Speaking of keyboards, I picked a new keyboard up today to replace my aging first generation Logitech G15.  I did do a lot of searching beforehand online then visited a local computer business "Canada Computers" to pick one up (with a new mousepad).  Price, features and brand were all important to me.  And, I didn't want to lose the LCD screen like the G15 has.

I first decided on the Thermaltake Challenger Pro keyboard but when I brought it home and tested it out, I wasn't comfortable with the way the keys press like the Logitech's and they were too close together.  The cool feature is that it had a plugin for a mini fan (being that they specialize in cooling) that blew on your fingers while you play.  I wasn't too keen on the red backlighting either.  So, I took it back and got what I originally wanted, the Logitech G510 (refurbished).  Refurbished, being that it was a new replacement sent from Logitech; not used.  The G510 retails for about $129 CDN and I got it refurbished for $69.99 CDN.  I'm happy I did.  Being familiar with Logitech keyboards, it's difficult to adjust to anything else.

I did try out a mechanical keyboard but didn't like the springy feeling of the keys.

I am looking at this refurb as well for $54.99. How is the quality?

I'm very happy with the G510.  The keys are even softer-sounding than the G15 and the keyboard seems a little more rigid than the G15 as well.  I'd say go for it.  If you do get it, I prefer the Logitech Gaming Software over the other one.  It doesn't have any USB inputs but I didn't use them on my previous G15 either.  The custom colors of the letters/LCD are a plus.  You can set up each macro key (M1, M2 and M3) with a color per key.  It's pretty sweet.  I'm also happy with the media controls on the right.  When I'm listening to streaming Winamp, I can just press Play/Pause, Stop, etc.  I'd definitely recommend the G510!

Thanks for the reply. I made a mistake with the numbering and I am actually going to get the G110. Still seems like a good buy!  Thanks for the advice.

No problem.  It looks similar to the G510 minus the LCD screen and a few macro keys.

My "A" key LED is completely burned out now.  I'm going to try and get an RMA from Newegg.  I have had this keyboard since May.  That's pretty sad.

I had flickering issues
I had to go through 4 before getting one that properly works (all exchanged for a small one time premium)
and each time it was a different key!

Well, my A key seems to be working again.  I wonder what causes this?  I don't think it's a loose connection.

inconsistent power connection to the board
it's the keyboard build quality, nothing to do with your psu or anything like that

Re:RAZER BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Keyboard. 2011/11/29 18:25:22 (permalink)
Thinking of buying my first mechanical keyboard but i can't decide between the black, brown and blue keyswitches.

I read a page that explained how blue were ideal for typing due to the maneuvaribility but caused problems when playing games due to a problem related to quickly tapping the same key multiple times (which would definitely affect me). Yet, many starcraft progamers swear by the cherry blue (starcraft has lots of tapping). What gives?

I have been doing some research and my eyes have been on the Razer blackwidow ultimate since they are $20 bucks off with free shipping whereas the standards are at regular price + $13.39 shipping (newegg.ca). Not too sure now that i can't figure out which keyswitches i want + razers ****ty reputation.
