What headset do you use for games (RPGs and some online multi-player)? Been looking around for a new one (my most recent one is from 2013-14) and kinda at a loss on what to get for a good price that doesn't make it sound like I am flying down the highway with my windows down.
One friend recommended the Arctis Pro which reviews seem positive, but the reviews I've read and watched kinda gloss over the mic quality.

I can only use headsets that don't squeeze the frames of my eyeglasses around my ears. The Corsair Virtuoso is what I use.

I've been using a Logitech G933 (I think that's the model) for years but the faux leather pads are flaking off...and I just started looking at the same model you're thinking about. I don't need a mic on the headset...just looking for audio quality with a good range for shooters...like PUBG...where hearing footsteps is crucial...not sure when/if I'll pull the trigger but the x pro is currently the top of my short list.

If you want best mic, then buy a separate mic and then use headphones to play, best part is you can wear your headphones in public without looking like a dork. I currently use the Sony WH-1000XM4 with a blue yeti nano.
Something about a PS5 with no games to buy

I have the Razer BlackShark pro v2 wireless. They are nice for casually walking away and still hear your voice chat. But, I found the Arctis 7s have better range compared to having the sound quality of the Razer headset. I found the wireless Logitec 900s had the worst range and mic. But no wireless headset will ever provide you with the power of bass and sound punch like a wired one. I have some older Razer tiamat 7.1 v2 that really get loud to noise cancel anything, but it has a bad mic, too.

So what price range do you want to pay? Do you like RGB and do you want something that looks more standard classic headphones or do you like the look of something that makes it look like you are on the bridge of an alien Spaceship?

I quite like my Steelseries Arctis 7 headset, although it does have small problems that really annoy me. For example the LED indicator won't stop flashing when the headset is turned off, even though I told it to in the software.

I use a Razer Kraken Pro, and I don't see many razer users here. They are a bit of a letdown, as a sponge fell off and the leather starts to peel more and more. I need one that stands the test of time better. I don't see a reason to switch a headset other than lack of functionality.

As a lifelong gamer and musician, I do not recommend gaming headsets. There are exceptions, but I generally find them overpriced for the components and build quality you get. There are a lot of gimmicks and marketing BS that is just that: BS. Digital sound processing has been around for a long time, and there are people who literally make their careers with their ears. I trust the brands that people use to make their living. The guy who engineered the audio so you could hear bullets and lasers whiz past your head in that action movie you saw in the theater is not using a gaming headset. Professionals do not use gaming headset mics to record speech and music. You can get pretty darn close to pro-level quality without breaking the bank. In fact, it's pretty easy to find a great headphone/mic combo that's cheaper than a "high end" gaming headset. High price does not guarantee good comfort, audio quality, positional accuracy, physical durability, or product support. That being said, this does not mean that other brands do not make good products. A headset from Razer, Tritton, Skullcandy, or Turtle Beach might be amazing for gaming, but you probably won't see a sound studio engineer using them to earn a living mixing the audio for the next Avengers movie or platinum album. There are lots of affordable headphone options that have good positional accuracy. Audio is an extremely subjective experience, but I have been recommending Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide (link won't post, google it) for over a decade with consistently good results. There are several options under $50 with better competitive rating than those that cost $150. Find a pair of great-sounding headphones in your budget that are comfortable, have solid build quality, good sound stage (open or closed back), and good positional accuracy. Pro audio manufacturers make spare parts easy to order. You're also more likely to get support from a company with a professional reputation to uphold. Then get a separate microphone that fits your needs. Antlion Modmic is a solid contender with good sound quality, and will have a familiar formfactor for most people. If you're on a budget, I have had very impressive results with cheap lavalier mics from Amazon. One more thing: You have 2 eardrums, you only need 2 drivers. One for each ear. A surround headset with 5 drivers per ear does not automatically create good positional accuracy. If the signal processing is garbage, you will never be able to locate where a sound came from.

I use Beyer Dynamic Dt880 pros with a modmic ModMic, a new microphone concept – Antlion Audio and HT Omega E-Claro PCI-E sound card. I don't like almost any gaming headset and feel the stereo headsets have better sound, depending on what soundcard you are using

It's a good solution since I personally am not a fan of the way a lot of headsets make you look like you should be on the flight deck of a space ship or controlling some giant robot in an anime when you wear them.
