After reading through all the posts about fans that folks are using on their KPE cards I decided to go ahead and do the same and ordered some new Noctua fans for push/pull when I finally get to use my card this weekend. My mobo has tons of fan headers and I was considering just running the new fans from my mobo. Then I wondered if this would cause issues with Precision X1. I would prefer to run them all as one radiator from the mobo controls but want to be sure this won’t cause issues. Or do I need to leave two connected to the card? I know there is an extra PWM header but can’t tell if there is a fourth. Thanks guys.

Only a 3rd a single Fan Header on the Graphics Card.
Fans that show up in PX1
    Fan 1 = Blower Fan
    Fan 2 = Radiator Fan
Fan 3 = Fan Header on Graphics Card.

I do not use Fan 2 or Fan 3 on my card.
You can use your Motherboard Fan Headers or a Standalone Fan Controller.

I thought one of them controlled the pump or is there a separate connector/controllable sensor for that clearly marked pump?

I just thought I remember reading you state or someone else correcting you that one of the fans in the software was really for pump speed.

You have it backwards, Maybe Post the Link Where you remember someone Correcting Me.........
No, and the Pump RPM on the OLED is in Error as stated by TiN_EE, and yes it was me who asked this question.

The PUMP RPM on the OLED is Really the Fan Speed of the Fan on the Radiator and will be corrected in a Future Firmware Update.

Sorry to sound dense but I’m still a bit confused. Can I run the 4 120mm fans in push/pull using the PWM headers on my motherboard, or will 2 of them need to be on the cards headers?

Yes you can run your 4 Fans from your Motherboard Fan Headers.
I would Not run 4 Fans form the GPU Rad Fan Connector.
But I would run 2 of the GPU Rad Fan Connector and 2 from the GPU Fan Header.

If you need higher than 1.2 A (14.4 W at +12V), please use external fan header or headers from motherboard / standalone fan controller
I use an "Standalone Fan Controller" I do not use Fan 2 or Fan 3 on my card.

Bcavnaugh, thanks for the detailed reply. In fact, thank you for ALL of your detailed replies. Seems like you are always the first one to post a reply to any questions I come up with.

I am building my new system with the ASUS Maximus XI Extreme (the EK Monoblock arrives tomorrow) that I believe I saw you used in one of your systems so fan headers aren’t a problem. :) I went with the Noctua fans that seem so popular on here as an upgrade which I will use on the 360 rad that will be going in the front of the case whenever EVGA decide to bless us with the Hydro Copper block.

Reckon I should have specified. :) I plan on running the CPU (9900K) on a 360 and then adding a second 360 to the loop in place of the AIO rad once the Hydro Copper comes out.

    That's a decent plan.

Me I'm trying to decide on changing from the 480s 1 ea on single loops and add a 360 to both or just combined all into a single loop with dual pumps.

Thinking with all together would be best as it's rare if the CPU and GPU are at full load together.. but flow would be best on separate loops as the CPU block really kills flow.. though the last ftw3 hydro copper really slowed the flow as well.

I’m a little limited as I am downsizing cases on this build. My current build is in a Phanteks Enthoo Elite but it’s just way to massive for my space anymore. I’m building this one into a Fractal Define R6 as it’s the only one I could find that supports a mobo as big as the Maximus XI Extreme and still has plenty of space for rads. And I don’t need a massive amount of cooling as my typical use case is much lower than most around here. I actually plan on moving my current system into another R6 once I get the new build up and running.

You know, I’ve never thought of putting 2 of the push/pull fans externally. That would certainly save space on the inside of my case until the water block is available.

It is best to cut out the Top of the Case to allow Full Air Flow.
I did get all the Screws needed to mount mine now.
    I got #6 Flat & Lock Washers and #6x32 x 1 1/4 Inch and 2 Inch.
