I have a question to all who have done it.  Im thinking about getting my lanbox internals powdercoated and was wondering if you guys had any problems putting things back together?  I hear once the powdercoat cures that it adds to the overall thickness.  Just need some info before i take it to my local powdercoating co.

Powder coating is cool and all but its VERY EASY to chip and looks really ugly when it is chipped because it stands out like Shaq in Asia(not because he is black )

I had it done as well.  Went together very smoothly, and didnt hinder the building of it in the least.  Also, from my experience, it does not chip easy at all.  Much better than a painted finish any day, just not as glossy.  You can check out the pics of mine in my mod rigs page.

I got my haf932 powder coated(Inside and out) the case went back together fine, the only small thing that came up is on the the 2 side panels in the back 2 corners on each one there was a bit of build up compared to the rest of the panel which made it so I couldn't line up the back thumb screw holes. But it was no big deal I just sanded down like 1 mm off the internal corners of the side panels and it fit together fine.

One thing is that pre-tapped screw holes need to be plugged during the powdercoat process, so point out the holes for the mobo standoff. Other than those I think any other screw holes on the case should be self tapping.

I've found the powdercoating ot be well worth it.

I thought powder coats weren't supposed to be shiny?

If your doing a complete disassembly then yes you need to open up the rivet holes  .010- .015(Inch) or it will be a pita.

I missed a few, and after powdercoating had to VERY carefully enlarge them with a hand reamer to get the rivets in.

It helped that Im a Machinist /Fabricator and powder coated the case myself.

As far as chipping ,not a problem at all...

I just used textured spray paint on my case interior and it worked fine - looked just as good as the external parts that were already powder coated stock, and also means that on the occasion it does get scratched, I have a can of textured spray to cover it up in seconds! I only used it for the internal case though - it may not be so durable externally (easier to scratch than powder coating)..
I used rust-oleum textured black.. here's a link at Amazon if it helps. Cheap too.
