I'm making this thread to guide those who are having issues with their PSUs (power supplies units) and 300 series Overclocking settings.
Please provide true stable overclocking and you power supply model.

Feel free to provide any ideas or suggestions.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

What kind of scores and temps are you getting on Port Royal?

OC all depends on the load.
I tested power draw on OCCT and it's amazing, it gets really sick power draw from your whole system, CPU even reached TJmax for the first time when stressing both GPU and CPU 100%, having cpu radiator at the top does have disadvantages with this hot card.

    Bequiet! dark power 850, stable:  CPU 9700k 4,9Ghz, 1,32VCore
GPU 3080 FTW Ultra 118% Power limit, 430 Watts in OCCT, +100 Voltage slider. Card had to clock down pretty hard, poor thing.

Yeah, but it should be boosting over 2K with no OC, and that isn't happening with my card.

    That's the reason why I can't hit 2100 even with an OC>

    3090 XC3 Ultra,
Daily clocks +130 core +400 memory (Benchmark clocks +140 core +600 memory)
Curve capped to 1V. which is 2085mhz.
    1000W EVGA PSU
    7900X @ 4.9GHZ.

Only Issue iv had is 1 random black screen and crash to desktop when I was watching a youtube video in firefox.
But thats over 3 weeks of use.
And when trying to find my benchmark overclock computer restarted with +160 on the core so dropped 20 off that and its been good in becnhmarks and another 10 off for daily use.

Is 700 mem the max u could go stable? I have 1200 and it seems on heaven to run without issues, but is going so high on mem healthy and safe?

I havent tried higher yet. Trying to game instead of benchmark all day

I did read that even if you put a high speed, it might not like it, but would still run instead of crash. Something to do with the memory type or something? Was in a thread on here somewhere.

so i did some port royal runs with +200 core and +900 memory. Whats weird is that i can go a lot higher on memory but i get score regression even though it's completely stable. could be a power limit issue
I can run +1050 on memory but i have to dial back core to about +160-170

anyways +200 core for benchmarks but for gaming i tried only +175 until i stress test this and make sure i can handle more for 24/7 settings.

I just got it last night so havent had enough time to tinker
    Im using a 1200 p2 evga psu and a 3090 ftw3 gaming

    3090 FTW3 Ultra
    +100/+250 - 107% power - at idle about 27c
Clock runs consistently at 2035 range with fans going ~60%, 1985 to 2010 with quieter fan settings for case & card, It occasionally runs a bit at 2175.
PX1 says 702w max draw & recommends 750 gold or better
    I have EVGA 850 P2 power supply
Port Royal consistently runs 14,250 range without pushing to crash point    * PR seems to let you put memory into ECC error zone and still results in higher scores, so I can do 850mhz for PR, but no game will take that and be stable.  250mhz seems to be max before losing performance due to ECC recovery.

Yikesdee - yeah, you can't run +1200.   What's happening is that you are actually losing performance...  Old memory on 2080 series or older would have artifacts or crash when pushed to the limits, but not the new memory on the 3000 series, this memory has "ECC" which is error correcting.  When it senses an error it pauses, fixes the error by running that memory request again, then continuing on....  it happens super-fast (10K mhz) however those little blips will eat away at your FPS and significantly boost your per-frame latency.   you'll find Port Royal will survive that, and maybe some games.. but try running memory @ +200mhz  and you will probably see better FPS, smoothness and consistency in real-world game play.

Also, using the latest beta Geforce Experience it has build in latency monitor in the FPS performance overlay - and you can see the latency bounce all over the place or drop to 0 when ECC kicks in.  for me that happens around +275.  some games and benchmarks can still run, but they get worse from this point and higher.

This is what I mentioned a few posts up. Maybe you posted this in the bios thread?

Anyway, just tried what you said. Dropped mem from 500 to 200. Saw a 90 point increase, 4 fps average more, 1.5fps worse on low, 10 fps worse on max.

Tried upping the clock to 140, which was giving me a terrible low of only 9fps. Tried that with 200 instead of 500 mem. Just got another 50 points, 2 fps average more. Low dropped 2fps more, max up 3fps.

Trying 160 clock gives me 20 points, 1fps average, lows are 4 fps better, max is 10 fps better.

You are definitely onto something! The memory was giving me my low fps spike, not the clock it seems.

3080 FTW3 Ultra (EVGA OC 450W VBIOS): +100/+1400 memory for Port Royal and Superposition only.

+60ish/+600 depending on the benchmark, program.

Corsair HXI 850W, 3 separate PCIe cables.

What kind of scores and temps are you getting on Port Royal?

    12,285

My card won't boost to 2100, even overclocked...

That's a good score. My highest score I can get is 11313 on Port Royal. I can't hit above 2100 either.

What bios you guys are running your gpu with?

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Hit 12602 in Port Royal with my 10400 haha. +1200 mem and +180 clock. 3rd PSU is EVGA 1000 g+. Holding first place on 3DMark for 3080/10400 combo on timespy, TSextreme, and port royal. 😁
