Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a pair of glasses instead of those big screens?  I know that americans do have larger screens than the average European has but how large do you want to go? I have a sony KDL-32W5500 32" screen and I must say that it is a great size.. I want the picture to as sharp as possible.. I know my screen isn't LED so I dont know how LED looks at those large screens (50"+) but my guess would be that a large non-LED screen would look awful at that size. My parents have the excact same screen as I have except their screen is the 40" model. Pic-quality is much worse than on my screen.. I think it is a matter of personal preferences..

My 105" Theater ;-) Came with the house. The wire hanging from the ceiling is tucked away now. I ran it for the Wii sensor bar. I play my PS3 on a 40" though...it gets better internet speeds than down in the basement.

I agree that some screens tend to look ugly when those pixels are stretched. Blu-ray movies look great on my screen. Honestly, after having a 60", I would have a hard time going any smaller. My Brother-in-law has one of those 73" Dlps and it looks fairly good, but I hate DLPs. I am scoping out the new 64" Plasmas Samsung has coming out. For gaming, I think 24"- 27" is the magic number but for movies, as long as the source is good, I need it big.

If I had a basement where I could have zero light, I'd go with a 1080p projector. I'd keep it just under 100" after that you start to notice the poo. At least the ones I have viewed. Since I am not building a basement/ underground man-cave anytime soon, I am waiting for the perfect plasma.

I will have to take a picture when I get home, however this is the display I am currently most proud of (obviously, since I listed it in my signature even though I rarely drag the box out there to game on it):

    http://reviews.cnet.com/f...5-6482_7-33941232.html

It is basically the 58" version of Panasonic's 2010 flagship plasma display model. Every review I could find of TVs that were 55"+ listed this as their top pick for 2010 and Q1 of 2011 (not this size, but the specific model... I would have opted for the 65" version, however I got a killer deal on the 58").

I have owned a LOT of high end televisions in my day and this is by FAR the best I've ever owned, beating out my old Kuro plasma.

Thanks man, took me awhile to get to this point. If you are able too, just save up...it will take some time, but it will be worth it. The price on projectors are pretty good now.

That's exactly why I am not having kids! Funny thing is that those projectors and screens cost the same amount as one of those over hyped 55" 3d tvs. The bad part is the cost of the stupid bulbs.

On a side note:I did TV reviews for some time and it makes me sick how bad some people are misinformed and sold on gimmicks and size alone. I go into Walmart/Best Buy and listen to people spew out nonsense and then I politely educate anyone that is about to make a bad purchase. I can't help it.
