Nice thread. When I get a chance I'll try to do a graph at diffeent settings to post. I did that back when the 8800 was the big card to fold on and the 9xxx series was coming out. There were some interesting findings like the 9600 had a sweet spot for folding that was lower than the max stable folding shaders. You could push it up to fail, and back off a bit, but to get the best PPD you had to back down even further. I don't know if the 4xx series is like that, but I'll find out and post results when I get a chance. rcranfield -------GTX 480 --------PPD 15997----------shaders/memory 1595/1848------------driver 257.21 I tried to go to 1660 on the shaders, but had Unstable machine errors come up. Remarkably Precision and Speedfan are reporting my GPU temp at 67C. Even when my room gets into the 80s when the AC is off, the 480s temp is usually running in the mid 70Cs. I think I saw it up to about 90 one time, but never again. So I have been lucky with temps.

jers47 ezekiel 08 Good to see I'm not the only one getting these figures. I was starting to think something was wrong with my 470. I'm running everything stock as my GTX 285 died after 2 months and thanks to the warranty I now have this 470. Don't want this one to die with a void warranty... ezekiel are you saying evga sent you a 470 to replace your 285? Yes they did :).

I am looking at replacing two 9800GX2's with either a GTX480 or two GTX470 for folding at home. Any chance any of you could post your temps. As I would like to have an idea if I am going to have problems keeping these cool(on air). Like the PPD and power usage though :).

My temps run 78 - 82C in a room AC'd b/n 78-82F, but only after I installed the High Flow Brackets that were offerred for free. Before then, my first card was running about 10C hotter, with another card about 4-5c hotter. Love the High Flow Brackets! Don't like seeing 90C+.

thor88 thor88 --- GTX 465 --- 1520/1603 ---- 13169 --- 257.21whql Hum, I'm nowhere's close to that PPD and I have my GTX 465 clocked higher. kram36 --- GTX 465 --- 1600/1620 ---- 10,351 --- 285.96 Interesting. With the a GTX 470 in the system (Q9650 790i) with the GTX 465's, the GTX 465's would only fold low 10k ppd. That's even without the GTX 470 folding. I pulled the GTX 470 to put in another rig and the GTX 465's popped right up to 13,338 ppd each.

What... no love for the 450's & 460's :( Here are a couple of days of results from my GTX460: except as noted, card is clocked at 860/1720/2100 and running 260.63 beta drivers. 6.30r2 System Tray client with -advmethods flag added. Data below is compiled from the GPU client fahlog.txt file. NOTES: * = 258.96 WHQL drivers, card clocked @ 850/1700/2000 ** = heavy computer usage, including watching full-screen 1080p content *** = Precision 2.0.0 failed & card reverted back to factory default speed fo 715/1430/1800 Bottom 4 WU's (912 point WU's) were folded with card clocked at 850/1700/2000 in an attempt to compare the new beta drivers to the older WHQL drivers. And if you're thinking that there's no way a 460 is doing this...

Nice work SM-71. I was looking for figures for an OC'd 460. (I think this thread predates that card's release.) P.S. That beats my 470 @ 700 MHz!

I knew the 460's were 'new' but didn't realize they were newer than the OP BTW... those numbers are with the -advmethods flag added to the client, without the flag the card only gets about 11,000ppd because it only gets 10632 WU's, the flag lets me get the latest Fermi beta WU's, which fold a lot better than the 10632's... so far... though 7im has already warned me that I could get some bad WU's with the flag as well, but [knock on wood] so far so good :)
