So here is the way that I setup my HFM.net and I know it was daunting for me so I wanted to create a guide.

This guide was written with version 0.5.1.180   When a major change to the setup process is made I'll update the guide.

  1. Download HFM.net at http://code.google.com/p/hfm-net/
  2. Install
  3. Setup
    • After Install you want to go to Clients>Add Clients. Here is what it should look like: For GPU's set the Client Processor MHz to your shader clock speeds as that is what F@H uses. And set the log folder to where you installed your client. Press OK and repeat for each client you have folding. Then go to File>Save Configuration As and save your config (I usually just save it in my My Documents folder). The configuration file is what holds all of your client info that you just put in.
    • Now go to Edit>Preferences, Then in the first tab it should be filled out like this: (with the exception of the "Web Generation" settings, If I see enough interest I will add the instructions for setting that up
    • Then go over to the "Startup & External" tab which should be filled out like this:
    • Then proceed to the "Options" tab which as you guessed, should be filled out like this:
    • Then on to "Web Settings", First you will need to get you EOC Id # which you can get by going to http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ In the Name search box on the left hand side pt in you folding name, and then search. You Id # will be at the end of the url after you click you name. i.e. my url is http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=491238 so that tells me my Id is 491238. Here is the picture:
    • After that, click OK and then you should be back at the main screen.
    • If all went right you should be left with a screen that looks similar to this, to get the log file to show simply press f8. and to get the queue click the show queue button on the left of the log file :

    Nice one so far
Can you add the part to create a default configuration file as well?

    Looks better
Have them load up that file on startup. You basicly have it already there, but much further up. Maybe have them  first create their setup and then deal with the stuff in preferences.  Just my 0.02 cents

User ID warning 2010/08/19 18:31:42 (permalink)
On that last image where you show the log file with the queue, you might wanna cover up your User ID. Just a security suggestion, but otherwise I think the guide is very thorough and full of helpful information.  I already have HFM set up, but this is great for first timers as it can be a little confusing on some parts.
