I really dislike icons on my desktop as well.  But this is just one of my desktop backgrounds.  I have a dozen pictures taken from the Hubble Telescope that changes everyday.

Here is what my desktop currently looks like at the moment. You know me I got to have something car related especially it being something Ford. More like a Ford Raptor.

I switch mine up often, usually its pictures of aircraft but i was feeling something a little more down to nature.  Always use pictures i took myself

Ooh... I want to play.  Im always switching mine up.
 
Normally not a fan of shortcuts on the desktop either, but having these here simplifies things for the time being.

The picture is from the Winter storm of 2016 taken by the NOAA GOES-16 satellite. My screenshot only shows one monitor, but it stretches to my second monitor as well.
