ok guys big issue. i just sold a power supply i had (behind on bills) i took my power supply from another build i have (just got it a week ago) X750 sea sonic gold. 100 modular psu well i started plugging in wires to my motherboard and am having issues with the 24 pin motherboard cable. when i try to connect it to the motherboard it won't fully seat. i checked the cable as well as the pins on the motherboard and all seems fine. but when i try to plug it in it feels like something is keeping it from fully connecting. (feels like one of the pins on the bottom is messed up on the cable it self. I've been at it for the past 4 hours trying to get this to plug in without breaking my motherboard from forcing it but i gave up. i wanted to know what you guys think i should do to get this to work . below are pictures i took of it somewhat half way plugged in as well as a picture of the cable 24 pin connector it self. i got a hold of sea sonic before the closed and i talked to a guy though email from 9 pm eastern to midnight. he's sending out a new cable. but being that i live in western NY and they are from cali, they will probably ship it ups grounds which means ill be without a working computer for over a week. was thinking i could maybe find a computer store around here that would have a 24 pin extender but the odds of me finding that around me is very slim. i thought maybe i can get it to work it self into an adapter easier than getting it to fit my motherboard. there i guess is something wrong with the plastic connector or the pins alining.

Hmm, beats me man... All the pins look properly seated, and aligned... I would have to say it's something in the 24-pin female, which is the motherboard connector.. But who knows, it might be the cable. Just hard to see it perfectly in pics..

i forgot to mention that i tested this in my HTPC and i have the same issue. it won't let me connect it and it feels like the bottom part is not allowing me to fully seat it into the connector so i canceled out it being the female connection of my motherboard. but i just don't understand why I'm having such a hard time with this being like you said, the pins look like they are seated right. ill try to get better pictures tomorrow morning. i was going to try to remove the pins from a few parts of the connector to see if thats the issue but i youtube a how to video on how to do that and its way to involved to do without the right tool. i don't feel ilke flattening 2 paper clips and shimming them down to pull the cable out.

If you need, I could ship you my pin removal tool, and a brand new 24-pin male. You could easily pop them all out, then switch to the new connector. If you want me to ship you that stuff, I can Monday morning, just PM me your address, etc before Sunday evening please. :)

thanks but you don't have to. i should be having a new cable coming out next week from seasonic. i just am impatient lol. its just beats me, why this is not connecting right. you would think the first thing to go wrong with a new power supply is the unit it self not having trouble plugging a cable in LOL plus, i don't feel comfortable taking the wires out and putting them back in the right order. i would probably re wire them wrong and screw up my system. maybe if i get some luck tomorrow, i can figure out pin or part of the connector is not letting me seat it right and or get lucky and come across a 24 pin extender around here. have to look at the local computer shop EliteGeek91 If you need, I could ship you my pin removal tool, and a brand new 24-pin male. Lol yup. Just check all around each plastic piece, and make sure there isn't a chunk of anything wedged in between them, or whatnot. Very weird like you said. Please update us when you figure it out, I'd like to know what it is lol.

take a sewing needle or a straight pin and stick in each pin and make sure it fits easily and slide a razor through every line in the connector to check and make sure no extra plastic
