From the PG challenge thread.  https://www.primegrid.com.orum_thread.php?id=10597
Welcome to International Cat Day Challenge: 5 day PRS (Primorial Search) from August 8 08:08 UTC to August 13 08:08 UTC

Next month we are celebrating felines with passports. Maybe I have that wrong??? Anyway, I just want to say that the Primorial challenge IS going to happen. We expect to have Primorial running on the BOINC server by the end of July, in time for the challenge in August. Meow.

(ok, the real reason I chose the day is because it's Vriska day. and she likes the number 8.)

To participate in the challenge:

  • Wait until the challenge timeframe starts (or set your BOINC Client download schedule accordingly), as tasks issued before the challenge will not count.
  • In your PrimeGrid preferences section, select only the PRS (Primorial Search) project.

I find it better to run 2 tasks at a time. A 12 core 24 thread I have HT off and run two tasks with 7 cores each.
Running one at a time make them run slower for some reason. Test and see if it is true for you too.

    From the challenge thread.

Thank you everyone to coming to our first PRS challenge!

    Challenge: International Cat Day
    App: 35 (Primorial)
    (As of 2024-08-13 08:09:11 UTC)

    148861 tasks have been sent out. [CPU/GPU/anonymous_platform: 148594 (100%) / 0 (0%) / 267 (0%)]

Of those tasks that have been sent out:

    28045 (19%) were aborted. [27961 (19%) / 0 (0%) / 84 (0%)]
    160 (0%) came back with some kind of an error. [160 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    105343 (71%) have returned a successful result. [105213 (71%) / 0 (0%) / 130 (0%)]
    15286 (10%) are still in progress. [15233 (10%) / 0 (0%) / 53 (0%)]

Of the tasks that have been returned successfully:

    12295 (12%) are pending validation. [12286 (12%) / 0 (0%) / 9 (0%)]
    93048 (88%) have been successfully validated. [92927 (88%) / 0 (0%) / 121 (0%)]
    6 (0%) were invalid. [6 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]
    0 (0%) are inconclusive. [0 (0%) / 0 (0%) / 0 (0%)]

The current leading edge (i.e., latest work unit for which work has actually been sent out to a host) is n=6533707. The leading edge was at n=5390719 at the beginning of the challenge. Since the challenge started, the leading edge has advanced 21.20% as much as it had prior to the challenge!

At the Conclusion of the Challenge

When the challenge completes, we would prefer users "moving on" to finish those tasks they have downloaded, if not then please ABORT the WU's (and then UPDATE the PrimeGrid project) instead of DETACHING, RESETTING, or PAUSING.

ABORTING WU's allows them to be recycled immediately; thus a much faster "clean up" to the end of a Challenge. DETACHING, RESETTING, and PAUSING WU's causes them to remain in limbo until they EXPIRE. Therefore, we must wait until WU's expire to send them out to be completed.
