He is going to one step back on the firmware update to see if the problem still persists.

Um ok.. odds are in your favor then. Hopefully they don't have another old board to swap it with. If the pins are bent hopefully it don't notice! Hehe

Okay so the technician had no luck on fixing the issue. Ge will be returning the mobo to asus and get a new mobo of the same model from them. He is shipping out tomorrow. I am thinking to ordering the rampage V extreme 10 from amazon and take it to him to install it and when he gets the other mobi back, i can sell it here on the forum. Smart idea? Please let me know :)

If you want the new rampage board see if they will let you return the bad board.

Yeah now if ya want the new board is will cost you. You would have to sell that board at a loss. 0 warranty to the buyer plus the cost of the new board.

What a pain.

Also would have to reinstall windows and start over instslling your programs again.

Keeping the same board would prevent this as it would be plug and play.

Obviously would be easier for them to just do it for you with the new 10 version bit at what cost since they might as well install win 10.

If you want to give installing your new asus rampage 10 board I bet you can do it! ;) the manual that comes with the board shows you how. Just take your time reading to understand it before acting. Asus even provides a cpu safe install plastic clip that is used to easily install the cpu without damage to the pins. It stays on so you can easily remove the cpu as well.

Installing windows would be the only issue but if you have a DVD drive just slap the disk in and press power.. they even sell a version of windows with it on a USB drive for quicker install. Windows walks you threw the install.

Sucks Im still in the 30 day window to return my cpu and board.. though I did just overclock my cpu to 4.8ghz last night but still more then 4 cores cpu would bench higher hehe.

Yup that's it!

Even has anothwr cool feature you may need down the road. You can upgrade the bios in the mb even if you don't have a cpu installed or graphics card in there. Slap the upgrade on a USB flash drive and plug it into the USB header and hit a button on the i/o plate and it will flash the bios!

Convenient if you go to install a cpu that's newer and the old bios won't support it. So insted of installing an old cpu to flash it you just flash the bios first.

You should really be asking for money back on the motherboard they sold you that was defective - look into your consumer protection laws, that is not your cost to cover. Very shady business, I would be pursuing legal means to recover my money if they were doing that to me... Not sure why you are okay with expending more money on something you had nothing to do with, you basically paid to correct their issue.

i am such a weak existent...that is my issue.... i always take the hard way.... they don't have any refund option and they are willing to replace the mobo....so i can't really ask for my money back if they are going to fix the issue by replacing the mobo...right?

Correct I would think. There gona fix it by replacing it with the same rma'd board. He's prob out of the 30 day return window for a flat out refund on the board.. or whatever there policy is.

He's gona take the new board they get back and sell it. Replacing it with the other board he buys.

Granted it would of been a nice thing and the first option the shop should of done which was replace it with another board in house and they could handle the rma (resell the rma'd board off to another future customer) for less hassle to him.

It's a different situation though cause moknowsbest wants a totally different mb.
