What the hell did Amazon send me? I ordered a GTX 1060 6GB FTW DT (06G-P4-6266-KR), but the box arrived opened, with no shrink wrap on it. The bag containing the power cable had been opened. The fan shroud does not say "FTW" by the power connector, it's just a box with a grey line through like the "6262" card. The tamper sticker accross the one screw on the back was broken and half missing. Also the sticker with the serial number and card ID on the back was barely stuck to the card. Likes somebody had pulled it off at some point.

All the pictures and videos I've seen of this card with the cooler off of it, do not have a row of capacitors to the left of the power phases. Can anybody ID what I got.. I think somebody pulled a switcheroo on Amazon and I got the results. Also EKWB lists the FC1080 GTX as being compatible with the (06G-P4-6266-KR) but those capacitors ain't gonna let it happen. So what did I get... I'm already working on a return with Amazon, but I'm still curious as to what I ended up with.

    Welcome to the Forum foxxwoof
You should Cover your Serial Numbers when Posting here on the Forum or open websites.
Maybe you should just return it back to Amazon.
Was the Card Sold By Amazon or a 3rd Party on Amazon?

    I've edited the photo...

Anyway.. that is "sort of" my shroud. Mine does not say "FTW" in blue by the power connector. It just has a grey " - " there. Also the waterblock that I have is supposed to be compatible with the card but those capicitors next to the power phases/chokes/coils prevent it from fitting. Add that in with the fact that it is obvious somebody has tampered with the card prior to my acquiring it, makes me highly suspect of what I actually received.

    EKWB  EK-FC1080 GTX - Acetal+Nickel SKU: 3831106831304

I know it says its for a 1080, but the 1060 6GB FTW (06G-P4-6266-KR) is in the compatibility charts.

Plus I've been watching youtube videos of unboxings and in none of them can you see those capacitors in the gap between the fins on the heatsink.

You could also run GPU-Z and it should give you the part number of the card and the specs.  If you paid for new and received open, I would complain to Amazon and make them send you a NEW one.

If the GPU was still together, you could have used GPU-Z to check.

I'm already going the return route with Amazon. And since I'm doing that I also don't want to plug it in and run it. I was really just curious what I got.

It is strange that it looks like it has the PWM layout of the GTX 1060 3GB model.

You think maybe somebody played switcharoo and put a 3gb model back in the 6gb box. The 3gb FTW cards are supposed to be compatible with the waterblock I have as well, but the other 1060 3gb models aren't.

You should test your Graphics Card in your Computer for a Few Days Before you install a Water Block to insure the card is good.

He could do that, but if someone substituted a 3GB card for the 6 and then switched the serial stickers...no way to really tell what he has.  GPU-Z would have been the best bet for that...

Exactly... the SN comes back as the card it is supposed to be...

    Shipped Date:   02/13/2017
The days left for warranty period : 1033 Days

But adding to the collusion that somebody has swapped the SN on it. I ordered this thing back on March 19th, and it was back ordered and just showed up this past Friday. April 14. If it has a ship date of 2/13 that means it's been in circulation for a couple of months before it made it to me. Unless they've updated the card with this style power phases, but that still wouldn't explain all the open stuff. so.. *shrug*

Doesn't look like a FTW to me... Tho you're going to have a hell of a fight with Amazon on the order as they'll see stuffs been switched. Without documenting opening the box, it's gonna be a hell of a uphill battle to get it returned and exchanged id imagine.

Only true idea woulda have been GPUZ. The FTW+ Missing off the shroud is clear indication its not a FTW+, unless someone @ EVGA got lazy.

Tho looking at Amazon, the FTW+ 6GB DT actually does NOT have the FTW on the shroud in the picture...

when it comes to electronics... like this. I only order from NewEgg.

In the 14yrs i've been ordering from NewEgg, never had a major issue period.

No. I'm not getting any type of discount or anything like that. I didn't expect that from a company like Amazon truthfully. They did authorize the return though. I've got to drop it back off at an Amazon drop point today at some point. I marked it as "Item not as described" and gave a description of it having been opened and all that. So hopefully they won't put it back into population. Hopefully they don't give me a bunch of crap when it shows back up at the warehouse.

I mean it almost looks like it's the 1060 reference card (06G-P4-6262-KR) In this pick you can see the capacitors through the fan. (from EVGAs own site).

and no markings by the power connector also.

Yep - that was not an Amazon sale, had to come from a third party - careful what you order folks.

Actually when I ordered it was sold by Amazon LLC... now it listing it as only sold by 3rd party.

It almost seems as though someone had purchased the card from Amazon...did the switch and sent the other model back with the serial sticker, to Amazon.  How many times have people told stories about Best Buy...where people would purchase a video card and get a much older model in the box (because someone switched).  I would blame the returns department for not verifying the return product properly.  Amazon owes you one...

Well I took care of my issue. I solved it by getting a refund from Amazon and instead buying 2 GTX 1070 Reference cards instead (08G-P4-6171). And they work with my waterblocks just fine. Ended up costing me a little more than I wanted to spend, and I'll now never solve the mystery of what I got, but now I"m back to building. So yay!

I'm glad you got it straightened out. I bet you will enjoy your 1070's!
