man o man this just made me laugh my head off,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188056

bottom review on the page:

Pros: its a fast board

Cons: overclocking is a royal pain, due to poor product support. evga raves about overclocking this board, but provide absolutely no useful information about bios post codes, or bio settings. i can find no documentation anywhere to help me understand some of the more advanced settings.

Other Thoughts: this board is not worth the cost. yes, its a great fast board, but lacking support, its not worth it.id rather pay 50$ more for an asus board, and get full product support.

that bit about asus made me laugh, I don't know what company he's been using but asus have been 100% useless EVERY single time I've dealt with them....I wouldn't buy a case fan from those jokers.

(jacob's response)

Manufacturer Response:Thanks for the review, and to answer your question on support, EVGA has a dedicated forum for this board, with many threads intended to help you overclock and get the most from your purchase.

For EVGA P55 based motherboards, please see this thread for an overclocking guide:
http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=20029

Also you will find a more detailed manual for the P55 motherboard on the driver CD that was shipped with your product.

Thanks,
Jacob

^ I know, some people shouldn't be aloud to review on there...especially if they're stupid/border-line retarded.

attacking evga's service while praising ASUS's is just plain stupid IMO.

I'm looking at the 2 sets at the minute, trying to decide which to go with. price is a slight concern otherwise it would be x58 over p55 any day of the week.

any thoughts dude?

oh well depends on what your plans are mate! For massive OCing and multiple Cards, X58 is the way to go. For mid OCing and single Card solution plus PhysX, P55 should be fine! Dont know what you are looking for dude, first think about what i said, then buy! A P55 Board plus single Card should be cheaper and a great performance. In other hands, the X58 vanilla is a great mobo, the Classy will be for Extreme OCing and 2 or 3 way Sli, i guess not for you, so the X58 vanilla will hanlde all your needs dude, with extra PCIe Slots for future expansions IMHO!

I was about to buy a Classy, i looked every where whithout success! So when i put my order i had to buy a Vanilla, i guess it will hanlde all my needs!

So, tell me, what do you want dude, so we can build something nice for ya ;D

Re:OMG, I just laughed so hard 2 (Why so serious?) 2009/11/27 08:12:08 (permalink)
ok so my only requirements are:

i7, LGA 1366 or 1156 respectably (this wuld be more down to MOBO selection though either wouldn't be a problem for me)

if 1366 then a 920, if 1156 then a 860.

x2 GTX295's (though this may change I'm never gonna be using x4 slots for sli under any circumstance so x2 or x3 slots for sli would be fine)

I'd like an oc of somwhere around 4 if that's not pushing it too much.

the main plan is to build a rig that's gonna be used for the next 2 years, one that I won't have bottlenecking and other BS from using x2 295's (something I might live to regret no doubt)

was also looking at just using x6gb of ddr3 of some description to start of with then adding more in.

that's about as much of a plan as I've got my friend, open to suggestions advice etc. it's mainly just gonna be a gaming rig, bit of graphic design and that's about it.

Re:OMG, I just laughed so hard 2 (Why so serious?) 2009/11/27 08:28:24 (permalink)
alright, here are my suggestions for ya mate:

-mobo: evga X58 Vanilla:

http://www.newegg.com/Pro..._-13-188-039-_-Product

or

http://www.newegg.com/Pro..._-13-188-049-_-Product

-GPU: sell that 295 keep the money from the other 295 and buy a single GTX380! I heard the GT300 will be a great folder!

Quad SLi solutions are not the bestt IMHO, always single or dual are the best choices ;D

-Ram: (take in mid that the higher the frequencies the better OC you will get dude) let´s start with PC312800:

these are good, with low latencies from OCZ:

http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16820227381

or

http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16820231238

or

http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16820226104

note: if you want to spend more money on RAM, take a look at the Corsair Dominators 1600mhz or 1866mhz (don´t buy the Dominators GT)

-CPU: 920 iss the way to go, or if you can, wait till january when i7 930 will be realesed! The 920 + the X58 + Megahalem with dual 120mm Fan in Push&Pull config = +4.0ghz

-Case: CM HAF 932

-HDD: WD Caviar Black

the rest is on yours ;D

Re:OMG, I just laughed so hard 2 (Why so serious?) 2009/11/27 08:31:40 (permalink)
something like this maybe (far from a finished and reviewed build though)

CM haf 932 case
EVGA e758 x58 mobo
i7 920 CPU
x6gb (3x 2gb) OCZ platinum DDR3 1600
corsair 950w tx series psu

total about $1,000 on newegg.com

GPU will be my existing 295 co-op

IDK, i've got a couple of months til the build though.

EDIT: uber lol WD, we're on exactly the same wavelength dude :D lol we picked the exact same components! :D

yeah man, you think 850w should cover x1 295 + all the other bits and HDD etc?

of course it will, also i forgot, check the HX1000 from Corsair, modular, very powerful and nice looking! take advantage of the Dual +12 Dual Rail ;D

For the Antec1200: forget about that Case, very space limited for a Full Tower Case but great airflow IMHO!
Example: An Ati HD5970 wont fit in that Case while in the 932 you will laugh at it ;D
