I installed this earlier today and found that it does stop the "Event ID 14 error" many of us were getting...

So is this new 397.64 Driver Save to Download and Update for my NVIDIA 1060 or do I have to continue staying on 391.35 Driver?

''I don't know what card you have or what issue as this is your first post. This driver resolves installer issue with a few select GeForce GTX 1060 models.
[ resolves installer issue with a few select GeForce GTX 1060 models. ]

in one of the last feed backs he [NVidia guy]   said its not just win-10 but 7 has its own issues ..  but yet none of them were listed by him as to what or any 7 issues in the drivers release notes [blank]  , just all under win -10  . well this driver does list 2 7 issues  for a change  and a surprise.

I guess this is what you got going from a OS to a service  [a malware service called 10 ]

anyway maybe they will work out fully for you in the end

The win7 issues were a GDI leak whenever nvapi was queried by a running application as well as the potential for the same device not installed issue.

Seems kinda awkward you bringing post fragments from GeForce over here.   The rep asked for clarification since he was responding to the FIRST POST, by the member. Seems reasonable to me.
I don't follow your complaint of  "so now it down to NVidia just will fix card they want and if yours in not on ther list , oh well too bad so sad ?" Where did you get that?
Any comments on your experience with this driver?

like the NVidia rep  ''The fix applies to Windows 7/8 also but the side effect was different. ''    that's it  lets move on .. so far I yet to be affected under 7  .

I said some where it seems they say this to make 10 not look so bad  on them   its like they just cant keep up or get a grip on that service called 10   my OS's seem to run and work just fine

like been said  '' seems with the release of 10 NVidia brakes as much as they can fix ''   it changes everytime you go on line and NVidia only releases a driver  seems now weekly trying to  and that's dunped down to affect 7 users I feel  ..

anyway thanks for that GDI info on that  it was helpful non the less

A bit early to say much other than the install went smooth and miracles of miracles, the only thing that shows up now for *errors during Windows boot is 'Windows Hello'  which I don't use.  I guess I could manually disable that notice.

dump files, not the output text.

    the text is useless.

Thats generally a driver combination issue though. (one driver modifies the area another is using)

The drivers still hangs when trying to install on my 1080 Ti FTW3 SLI.  I still get a black screen. However, I have to use DUU in safe mode to install these drivers. What ever happened to NVIDIA's transparency and simplicity of installing simple drivers? Why all the work around for a software driver on an aging 1080 Ti? BETA drivers with WHQL labeled on them means nothing to me if the driver is broken.

When is the last time you did a clean OS install?

Which OS version are you on? Is the version a clean install or an upgrade install?

Installed the full version 3 months ago. Now on Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 1803

Okay, so 3 months ago you installed 1709 and you've now updated to 1803, right?  Have you done a clean install of 1803?

    No, should I? :)

Hard to say. I have no idea how much of a hassle it would be for you to do. But would narrow down the possibilities.  You can always image your current install and return right where you left off if it doesn't help.

    Hi
you could also pass the program for drivers
Driver Easy and see who you hung or to update.
The only problem I have is that it closes automatically
the EVGA Precison XOC last to see. and I have to open it until it decides to stay open and not close

dump files, not the output text.

    the text is useless.

Thats generally a driver combination issue though. (one driver modifies the area another is using)

Updated to 397.64 with no issues.  I always uninstall Precision XOC, delete EVGA folders, and do DDU uninstall ... and then install everything clean.

I'm running Win 10 [v1803], Nvidia 397.64 driver [driver & PhysX only], Precision XOC 6.2.2 -- seems to be stable combination across the board ... and I'm still holding off on Precision XOC 6.2.7 until last few kinks are worked out and more stable).

Everything seems to be working so far.

That is very through indeed, and probably the best way to avoid system rather than genuine driver problems.
For me, I always clean instal, but don't go to the lengths you do. I'm lazy I guess?

Still, I very rarely experience driver problem and usually always update. This time waiting on .64 however. Read some nasty stuff about it. Probably user
error (very often is) but I'll stick with 397.31 for now. Only difference is slight changes in some bench tests, but's that rather irrelevant as they are small
and cause no problem or slow down at all on any apps/games.

Sorry if this is too off topic, and mods feel free to move it.
    **********************************************

Nvidia very frequently update their drivers, say twice a month or so.
They usually say this is done for new AAA class game releases.
But many people (I don't really understand why) complain about issues with new drivers.

So, my question. Should Nvdia continue their current policy of frequent updates for new games mainly?

OR should they only release when necessary, I mean when really necessary. For instance a change in Win 10.
Or the engineers find a way to improve the whole structure, size and performance/efficiency on certain GPUs.(I doubt noticeable performance increase just by driver is unlikely??)

They put full time and effort into quality,
    not quantity?

I would be interested to hear you guys opinion's?
    Thank you gentlemen.

I would recommend an online beta slow ring testing team for NVIDIA. Alpha, beta then a final build to the general user. Make a solid driver if you going to release and back it with WHQL. NVIDIA needs an insider program before dumping it out with issues to users.

I agree. A lot of these updates with Microsoft and NVIDIA have been a nightmare for some users, me not personally as I use the Insider Previews so I knowwhat to expect and I do a bit of bug testing in my spare time and use the report feature, but NVIDIA should consider something like this and get the community involved.

I found that Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit build 1803 is rock solid. Their counter parts with NVIDIA drivers are not....
