Hello, I've recently got an EVGA 3090 Ti (non-ultra) and I'm having a weird problem with it - in most cases I am unable to see anything after entering the BIOS setup (the monitor keeps turning on and off with a blue screen and "no signal" message). There have been a few cases when it did work, but in 90% of cases it doesn't and those working cases were just random as far as I can tell.

The card works fine once Windows boots, it's just that I can't see anything (in most cases) up to that point. It's connected to the monitor via an HDMI 2.1 certified cable (4k@120Hz HDR works, so I don't think it's the cable). Card firmware has been updated by PX1.

I've been using an RTX Titan via DisplayPort 1.4 before with the same PC and did not have this problem.

The board is MSI x670E Godlike, BIOS up to date, settings at defaults.

I know NVIDIA released a DisplayID firmware update but it's for DisplayPort which I'm not using even though the problem I'm having looks the same. Should I try it anyway?

Edit: Tried DisplayPort 1.4, same issue.

What could the problem be here? Anything I could try to fix this?

Found a solution to this - disabled the "deep sleep / power saving" option in the monitor settings. Problem gone.

Actually not, I just got lucky a couple of times. The same problem is still there. If I keep rebooting and entering BIOS setup, eventually I will get in there, but 9/10 times I won't, so that's definitely a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I've just tried DisplayPort 1.4, same issue.

I'll try running the DisplayID update tool.

Does the issue also occur with a different monitor?

Tried with another monitor via DisplayPort - works fine... Damn.

The one that doesn't work is Asus PA32UCG-K which is a pro level monitor. The one that does is and old Asus VG279Q.

No idea what's different between them. Both worked with a 20 series card...

    Talk about disappointment.

Sorry to hear that. Is the firmware current on the monitor?

Yes, the FW is the latest.

Anyway, an update on the issue and a workaround in case someone is using the same HW.

The problem is not the card but the monitor (PA32UCG). For some reason, it has problems with video signal detection during POST with 30 and 40 series cards. The workaround is turning the monitor on RIGHT BEFORE the POST sequence. During a short period of time after that (~10s) it is somehow more "receptive" and will detect the video signal in most cases.

I got this workaround from another person on a different forum mostly by accident. What were the odds of that happening though?
    1. PA32UCG is very low volume, few users.
    2. Found a forum post mentioning a similar issue in some random PA32UCG "first impressions" thread.
    3. The post was almost 2 years ago.
    4. The guy had a 3090 as well.
    5. Contacted via PM, responded next day with a weird workaround.
    Crazy world!

I can happily live with this workaround though :)
