Hey guys, I'm getting into a new hobby lately. Nitro RC trucks and bashing/racing. I just picked up 2 new additions to my fleet of Nitro trucks. And thought I'd see if anyone else here is into off road nitro bashing/racing

my 1st new toy:
Team Associated Monster GT 4.60 SE

And second:
Traxxas Revo 3.3 5309

And both side by side so you can see just how much bigger the Monster GT is:

Late addition my 3rd new toy:
Traxxas Jato 3.3

I also have a Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 (which looks like a smaller version of the Monster GT), an OFNA Ultra LX nitro buggy with a Pico .28 engine and a HPI Savage 25. I didn't take pictures of them because they are dirty and in the garage.

It's a pretty fun hobby and has been consuming a lot of my time lately. We have a clay track locally at a park that I'm planning on starting to race the Revo and OFNA buggy when I get the hang of jumping them and the timing it takes on the remote to control the throttle to "float" them in the air. Its really interesting but you control the attitude of the car by the throttle and brakes when the car is in the air. Say for instance if your nose is pointed too far down and you want to level out you are supposed to hit the gas and if your tail is too low you are supposed to hit the brakes to level out. It's really timing and touch sensitive as the slightest over adjustment will either send the car rolling over or doing a back flip. (I'm good at the back flips...lol) It's tough to master the rhythm and timing over successive jumps. I'm fairly decent at lining up the car and steering but my throttle touch leaves a lot to be desired. I like to floor it and just go for broke but that doesn't work when you're trying to negotiate a bunch of jumps and twisting turns.

The Monster GT, Savage and T-Maxx are my bashers. We take them out to a local rock pit and just, well give them hell. We jump them, crash them, break them....ect. They are super fun for just tearing up and getting together and romping around with. I'm itching to try out my new Monster GT to see how it performs as it's easily the biggest truck I own. But I can't make it out till the weekend to give it it's proper "break in".

Oh and I thought this truck was just awesome looking. These pics are of the guys whom I purchased the Revo an Monster GT from. This is a fully decked out Traxxas T-Maxx with aluminum upgrades all over the place.

That truck is the guy's show piece truck and it was so awesome looking I asked him if I could take some pics of it. It's pretty much a work of art. He upgraded almost everything with aluminum parts.

So any of you guys into nitro R/C or even electric R/C? Post up some pics of what you've got

I've got a freaking beast Ferrari F430 Spider. Battery powered, been though a few crashes so it's not the best condition anymore. But I love it. I'll get some pics of it for you tomorrow.

Edit: Max speed on flat ground - 24MPH. It's sick.

I've got the original Traxxas T-Maxx, modified with a larger engine (I overclocked it :)  I also have a 1/8 scale buggy that will do about 60 MPH.  I got this one a couple weeks ago though, The Axial Scorpion, I'm hoping it'll keep me busy till my Jeep build gets finished.

Nice looking crawler you got there. I don't know much about them but they look pretty cool, just a tad too slow for my taste I guess. I'm not satisfied unless I can haul ass off a jump and go bombing down a rock pile at 40+ mph...lol

As for speeds, the fastest vehicle I own is the OFNA Ultra LX buggy. It'll do about 70mph. The Revo though I haven't had it clocked the guy I bought it off of says it's good for about 55mph. My T-Maxx does just over 45mph and the Savage clocks it at just under 40Mph. I'm betting the Monster GT will be about the same in the 40mph range as it's a big beast.

@ Halo 003, post up some pics, lets see what you got

I later rebuilt it with a small airsoft gun just for the heck of it.  No real practical use but it sure was fun to play with!

That's awesome! I need to do something like that to one of mine so my truck can defend itself from the dog. I was running my T-Maxx in the back yard a couple weeks ago and he got a hold of it and managed to bite one of the rubber tires off...lol.

I guess what i wrote in the post got deleted some how when i added the pics... any ways.  Its a Tamiya TXT, not really Nitro and definately not very fast.  But as you see I gave it it's specialties.  I origonaly built it to immitate the Mark Bot that EOD uses for looking at suspected IEDs.  Its 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering.  The cam is mounted on a scope ring so you could ad a magnifier or laser for marking targets to the rail on the Pan/Tilt turret.  I used a Spektrum DX5e to control it.

Right on  Crap. You should check out remote control gas powered planes. They are really fun too. If you do, start with the electric ones and work your way up to gas powered.

WOW you just brought me way back to when my son was young.  I built a few R/C battery trucks and my son and I used to take them to the park and have demolition derby.  I enjoyed rebuilding them so we could crash them again...lol

Come to think of it I still have them in my garage some where (they have to be about 20 years old).

Battery power has come along way since those first RC trucks.  When I was young I had a Tamiya Grasshopper, 9.6V R/c truck.  I remember constantly recharging those stupid things.  That's why I started doing Nitro trucks.  Now with my Scorpion, 7.2V LiPo cell and brushless motor, I charge for about an hour, and run for almost 3 hours.

Yeah, I am starting into the hobby late as most that are into it are in their teens to early twenties but it sure is fun. I was able to sneak away to a park and run the Monster GT today for a bit. I put about 2 tanks through it. And man this thing is surprising for it's size. It really does take off fast! It will even do wheelies if you hammer it off the line which surprised me for how big it is! Unfortunately my fun was halted early when I broke the pull starter cord by pulling it out too and ripping the cord Luckily it's a dual start system with either pull to start or use a roto start to get it running. So I'm probably just going to use a cordless drill and a hex head to start it. Anyway though it is a powerful little beast and was fun while I had it running, can't wait to take it out again

Is nobody here into miniatures?  I've got an Xmods Evo that I plan to trade up for a Mini-Z MR-010 (Lancia Delta model) in a week or two.  I have a couple lipos that REALLY kick up the speeds a notch.  I totally fried a 30k rpm upgraded motor on the thing.  It's too fast to control with stock plastic parts, even with precision steel bearings.  Rather than drop ~$80 on aluminum knuckles and a new motor etc., I'm just going to hop up to a Mini-Z.

I'd like a 1/8 rwd truck sometime.  I used to have one... A long time ago.  They are insane fun, but I dunno.  I don't have too much space where I'm living right now and I get far more use out of minis than I do their larger brethren.

    Update to my earlier post.

    First my Jato 2.5r

    Second, My Revo 3.3

The Revo is brand new in the pic, the Jato had seen some off roading, but no real bashing...Till the Vid below.
       http://s107.photobucket.c...gAround_mpeg2video.flv
      Jato 2.5r vid.
    http://s107.photobucket.c...gAround_mpeg2video.flv
    Revo 3.3 vid.

This is what the Jato looks like now.

Now the Jato vid, was my first attempts(many) at controlling the balance using the throttle, for backflips.
The Revo, i knew from the jato, but that vid was the first backflips with it.

I cant embed the vids properly, so if someone could offer some help, it would be appreciated.

You guy's are killing me. I always loved RC. I used to race them in portland oregon for a while. Just last summer I bought the newer waterproof Emaxx and a Nitro Revo. Both were great cars but I sold them to dump more money into the pc. I really want to try out a crawler though. Maybe I will buy the axial.

Since this started a Nitro RC thread, I thought I'd come back and show off my other cars, two of them are Nitro.  The big yellow one is my T-Maxx, originaly packed with a .15 engine now has a .25.  The orange one is a GS storm pro 1/8 scale buggy, 60+MPH.  The little red Corvette is a 1/18 scale Micro RS4 and actually hits about 25 MPH!!!!!  All the paint jobs are custom by me.

I've got 4 RC's of my own.  The Traxxas Slayer 3.3 with mods on it.  The Traxxas Slash, original version.  And a Traxxas 3.3 SMAXX.  I have video's of my stock SMAXX at a motocross track. Search for "Synistrr".  There's a few of my SMAXX vids on there.

Just a quick update here, I just picked up a Traxxas Jato 3.3. And damn this thing is like a land bound missile! 2wd drive, same 3.3 cc engine and much lighter weight than the Revo = rocket..lol. With the bigger tires on it, it goes over 70mph!

What i do when i dont want to drive too far, is find the closest construction site, that has freshly raked soil.
    just go all out speed.
