Hello I just got my new replacement card after one of my gtx 680 ftw 4gb died. As I was placing the sli cable into the cards, I noticed the replacement card had a new sticker much like the gtx660 Ti, it also had a different back plate with and had different components on the back of the PCB.

The top card is the old one and the bottom is the new one.

Could I please get some info on what changes were made to the newer GTX 680 FTW 4gb verses the old one?

Interesting. Are you positive this component is not on your older card and that it is not just the backplate that has changed?

The old back plate could not support that component, the new component protrudes out to far.

I have a hunch that its related to the power management for the card?

The cards are the same, the only thing that changed is the backplate, original version we used a bumper to keep the poscaps from shorting, the more recent version we cut out a piece of the backplate for better clearance.

^^;; great info i knew it had to be something simple like this. you can always look under the card with a flash light and inspect it before yes? or was it blocked out of sight
