Been folding for a while now, but I see people with millions of points, literally, what can I do to increase my PPD?  I run F@H SMP on an i5 2500K @4.5Ghz and a 560 with a mild OC.  Any ideas or tips?  (aside from new hardware)

run 24/7
get a passkey for SMP (if you don't already have one)
I did millions on a gtx570
you're already overclocked

say odd question here but does anyone know. or had noticed themselves either a recent change in WU' being distributed or if after a certain time folding or alternately WU's done, points earned where the WU's you are assigned become larger then the norm.
Not talking about bigadv or advmethods. It just seems that without any change on my settings instead of WU's that all used the same amount of time vs roughly the same points recieved (and I have checked and rechecked that all my settings are the same as they were last month and before)
Now I keep getting WU's that are bigger  or take longer to complete.
I use the FAH GPU tracker. I run SMP and GPU WU's

So is it just me or what?

Howdy All!
New Guy checking in. Just started folding for the first time ever today. Using my 6950 until the 680 comes in.   I'm showing 11300 PPD currently sound about right for my setup?

Hello folders,

I just finished my folding set-up and I'll be folding using GPU Flash V2. First time folder. For now I'll only be folding part time because currently my folding rig is my main gaming rig....but when i decide to not be lazy i'll be swapping some parts out with my brothers computer so i'll have a full time folding rig and a full time gaming rig.

Another first time folder checking in, although I will be without a computer for about a week.. mobo won't boot in dual channel memory mode but I'm within the Newegg 30 day for replacement.

Was getting about 52k PPD smp+gpu with an i7 2600(non-k). When I'm back up, I should be able to contribute at-least 16hrs a day at 100% capacity i7 2600K@ 4.6GHz(on the way), GTX 580, N550GTX TI.

With they way the prices have been dropping on the 580's after the 680 release, I may pickup another one in a couple weeks. I bought mine for $250 2 weeks ago, and one went for $150 BIN about a week ago o.o

Hello all,

New to the EVGA experience here, picked up a GTX560 to replace an old GTX260 which had become fiddly of late. Recently started folding again after a long hiatus, so I thought I'd help the team here with whatever machines I have lying around.

Hey everyone I'm kind of new to the folding scene. I'm not entirely sure how I get points or anything like that but I run the FAH GPU Tracker V2 and have selected EVGA as my team in the drop down menu. I don't know how to aquire a passkey so if someone could point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it. my setup is;
Mobo: ASUS Crosshair V Formula
CPU: AMD 6100 @ 4.0ghz
CPU cooler - Coolermaster Gemenii S524
RAM: Crucial 1333mhz
PSU 750w 80+ Thermaltake
HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 64mb cache
GPU: EVGA GTX 460 SE - core@ 778mhz - mem@ 2004mhz
Case : Thermaltake V9 Black Edition
If you've got some tips for getting better folding numbers I'd also appreciate whatever info ya'll have on the subject.
When I run the FAH GPU Tracker V2 it says my PPD for my GPU is 12115 does that sound about right for my setup? Sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. Thanks guys and gals!

Hey man, welcome to the club.

Yeah, you want a passkey to be eligible for the extra SMP bonus points, you can grab your passkey here,
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

And here you can read all about why it helps to have one.

How goes it, all. I've started folding at the end of last month on my laptop. Since I got my shiny new desktop at the start of this month I've really upped my contributions. Hope to see where I stand amongst the most active of us soon.

Whole new world - had the PNY 430 - then went to the GeForce GTX 460 FPB - all my system will allow.  Had to even get a new power supply.  Already looking at new cases that will keep things even colder.  So this whole idea of folding is impressive - when I don't game I fold.  Starting a new business soon then make a leap on the GPU.  First does anyone have any suggestions on a case?  Great to be here and for a great cause GO TEAM

Guess now instead of case the word is chasis.  Wow what a learning curve.

First off, welcome aboard!   I think you'll find all kinds of wonderful & helpful people around here.

As for cases, the HAF X always seems to be mentioned as a good case.  Here's more on it from the EVGA hardware forum.
I've also heard good things about the Corsair Graphite 600T series.  Also comes in sexy white w/ a window!
I personally am happily using the CM Storm Enforcer.  It has intake filters, decent airflow, and won't break the bank.
If you're looking for watercooling, here's a thread with suggestions from the EVGA overclocking forum.

Cases seem to be a personal thing, so lots of people will have lots of opinions on what's the "best".  But in the end you should decide what features are important to you and how much you're willing to spend.

Well I just though I would say I finally got up and running.  I'm not much for messing with a bunch of settings and files and etc, so I just kept it simple and DL the v7 client from the F@H site.  I am pretty sure its not using my GPU at this time, but I'm not to confident in getting it to work, so I await the client update.  Still my estimated PPD is about 16.5K, though that will drop on gaming days, this being my only rig currently.

Alright, I couldn't take it, so I followed the guide and got my GPU up, well, as up as it can be till they update it.  Now showing 40-43K PPD.
