Was lucky enough to get the 3060 ti xc after waiting in queue for over a year. However, I'm concerned with the temps that it's reaching under 80% load. The temps are usually between 71 and 75 degrees Celsius with the "hot spot" hitting 85c. I use GPU-Z to monitor the temps and load percentages. I don't really know what the "hot spot" is, but I know that anything above 80c is bad.

Is this a sign of a faulty card? My rig is properly cooled with 5 fans and a radiator, I have never had issues like this previously on my 2060 or other cards. People were telling me it could be the fact that the card comes pre-overclocked. But would an overclock like that make the hot spot go up to 85c under 80% load?

Edit: Apparently the "hot spot" is the temperature that's reported by the graphics driver. So yeah I feel like something is up?

Max allowed is 93c, so you're technically within spec. How hot is your room? Are you using the default fan profile? I would max out the fans if you're using the default fan profile.

I generally set my fans to 60% prior to putting a load on the card and that seems to keep the card's temps it check. However my case air flow is excellent and the room temp isn't high either.

yes the xc is running hot. On a open air setup, fan full speed, room temp 20°C, I was around 73°C.

And forget about 0 fan speed on that cooler.

I removed the shroud, strap 2x 120mm fan on it, 80mm on the back plate, controlled with a 3rd party app (better) , and if I gain 2-3°C im lucky, cooler is too small.

    But it works !

71-75C is not unheard of for that card.  What matters is how much power you draw for the given cooler design, case airflow, the efficiency of the silicon, and how well it's pasted.  Lots of variables.  I recommend finding your stock bench performance, then using an undervolt and fixed overclock to match that performance while reducing your power and temps.  Works for me on the same exact card.  My results were 73C out of the box in a high airflow case, undervolt resulted in 65C temps.  I'll post my data in this thread soon...

Thank you everyone for the help!

    What I've done:
    - Set custom fan curve. Before they were maxing at 70%. Now they hit 100% under 70-80% load, however the card still hits 75c. I'd say it helps maybe 3 degrees. So it didn't help much unfortunately but I see now that it's pretty normal for this card I guess.

What I'm going to try next:
    - Undervolt the card and reduce the power and temps as staypuft said. I'm also going to take note of the average power draw since I probably should have added that here.

undervolting might gives you few °C.

But at the end, I realize the big limitation is the cooler. anyway, a lot of people getting this card for ITX build, with restricted air flow, and they will hit 80°C+ and its fine.
this card is tiny. Saw few post on FB market asking to trade other bigger model with this evga XC, because its small, if you're lucky you might find someone in your area.

I was about to do the move, trade 0$ with a 3060ti asus dual, but didn't want to risk getting a screwed, even if the ads seemed legit

That's correct while still being within thermal spec plus the GPU will protect itself either way.

Heck I used to run two GTX 480 (Fermi) in SLI @ 90c a piece but they were made and designed to handle that even though it felt like a sauna in a 747 for take off.
