The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. I remember back, at one time, I had the GTX 580 OC "Black Ops" Edition.  Here's the teaser

Reminded me - I won a Duke Nukem card about 9 years ago - "GTX 560 Duke's Fully Loaded Package".. I purchased a second one to SLI them. Neat book and belt buckle that came with it too.

AMEN! You said it brotha! If the new series doesnt drop in April-ish then were gonna have to wait till sept-ish most likely, if they drop then. Unless were seeing the last gasps of this 2xxx series, the supers ARE the refreshes and 3xxx is going to be a all new arch, node, etc... back to step 1. If thats the case, then i say June-ish launch.

NVIDIA's upcoming Ampere GPUs have been the subject of their fair share of hype and anticipation. If this particular rumor is to be believed, however, NVIDIA's flagship GPU will have a massive 826mm² die.

ga100(ie 2 chips on 1 die) is double that of GA101(which was supposedly canceled)

According to Igor's Lab , nVidia is currently testing "Ampere" for the next generation of graphics cards with newly developed GeForce RTX 2080 Ti boards. Their graphics board must obviously be improved in favor of better signal quality, which nVidia probably did not want to tackle in live use - and is therefore now carrying out the test run within the current Turing generation . Since no wave of newly designed GeForce RTX 2080 Ti cards is currently announced, it is more likely to be internal changes and hardly any completely new board layouts.

the board partners and their suppliers and it is astonishing that Nvidia is already having its board partners practice the new production of next-gen cards as a “dry run” with known chips.Nvidia is already having its board partners practice the new manufacture of next-gen cards with known chips as a “dry run”.

Nvidia now uses the backdrill process for Ampere

This technology is not new, but it is somewhat more complex and therefore more expensive than the “normal” production of multi-layer boards including simple through-plating and stubs, i.e. the unnecessary residues (extensions) of through-plating that can be found on each printed circuit board with several layers place.

a ahem!!
this maybe due to ampere having 2 dies on 1 chip

looks like we may have 3080ti's at launch

although if you go by igor's reasoning he saying gamescon in August for consumer cards

I hope Nvidia and the 3rd party PCB mfgers think about the consumers with WBs.  This would be great if you could continue using your existing block instead of having to purchase a whole new block.

Nvidia now uses the backdrill process for Ampere

It's a very simple process.  No need for over-hype.  They already have all of the PCB design as part of an automated process.  All that is necessary is to add an instruction for the CNC drill (which is being used already earlier in the manufacturing process anyway, to create the vias), to drill out some vias oversize to remove a portion of the through-plating.  If you look online you will see it discussed as a complex operation which requires high location accuracy and high depth accuracy, but it's only complex when using humans who are prone to error.  CNC (already being used) on the other hand, not at all complex in any way.

It should only add an almost immeasurable cost to the mass manufacturing process. Hardly even noteworthy.

Now you know why I wait until I see something official before buying into the "leaks" and "rumors".  Until I can see the performance to know if it's a good upgrade and know the price to decide if it's worth upgrading it doesn't matter what is rumored or leaked.

Good luck if you want to SLI them. More likely to pick up 2 unicorns and the unicorns will probably be cheaper than the ebay scalping price on these.

From all the ridiculous leaks lately about both Nvidia & AMD ,.... I think we may be disappointed all the way around.
Not sure either card will be able to live up to the fake hype train leaks....
