While it is true that Photoshop has a similar process NVIDIA's technique goes much further and better. The results aren't always perfect, but it's still a remarkable achievement that shows a lot of promise. Once this technique is made even better I will be the first to say that AI has actually accomplished a wonderful feat. Although I do have to say the AI in the Huawei 970 Kirin processor also does great work.

That is pretty impressive since it shows AI might start to be able to create or restore art.

Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline, or maybe it's Nvidia.

How is an AI being able to repair a photo an invasion of privacy?

    Enhance...enhance...enhance

As for privacy...maybe black bar/blur removal from censoring?

Perhaps because AI requires training with similar images in order to learn the subject. If you want the best results, you will need to share other examples.

    ASRock Z77 • Intel Core i7 3770K • EVGA GTX 1080 • Samsung 850 Pro • Seasonic PRIME 600W Titanium

    "repair"

What if the photo was intentionally obfuscated? It has to collect data in order to learn which means you know have creeper AI rummaging through your photos most likely creating profiles of the people in those photos. The guise is to claim it has a legitimate use for a problem, but in reality it will be abused intentionally.
