that's sti/evo money...

You ever been in an STI or an Evo?

That was obviously a joke, but what's not a joke is the fact that both have terrible interiors. The Optima is FAR nicer in the cockpit than either of those two, by a light year. You should know more than anyone here.

Agreed, but 41k for a Kia, regardless of whether its nicer inside or not is irrelevant. That's A4 money, 3 Series money, C Class money, Lexus IS money, Infiniti G/M money. All of which are much more powerful, better looking, and on a lease just as mechanically sound(as all maintenance/warranty will be covered for 50k miles.) So tell me, why on earth would I get a freaking front wheel drive turbo 4 banger with no reputation.

I mean if I am going to break the bank I might as well go in style.

Might be better looking to you, but in the end we all have different tastes. Its a head turner for sure, received some nice compliments today. Might sign it over to my friend in 6 months and get my challenger instead.

Nice car!! Now drop a big sound system in there and shake your interior loose!

hmm so you're paying $40K for a care that's 1/4 mile is 15.2 seconds, a Focus ST does 14.5 seconds (costs 1/2 as much), a 2013 F150 with 3.5L turbo does 15.3 1/4 mile and a Flex does 14.6, same with a Explorer. Why does that matter? Well it means the car is a non-performance vehicle so why not just get a smaller engined car that would cost less. A fully spec'd SX costs $31K that's ~$9K cheaper and you lose the engine, well you aren't wining much with the hot version so why not?

I'd pick an f150 out of those cars, but I still don't regret my lease (can't call it a purchase eh? Lol) anyways it wasn't just on the speed, I liked the overall look of the car, the fully loaded SX is 35k so for 2k more you get the turbo

Congratulations man.  I haven't looked at a KIA in a long time, but wow, that is much different than the KIA's I remember.  Looks good and hope you enjoy your new car.  I just bought me an Acura RDX a few months back so I know the feeling of having that new car feeling (and the sound of a turbo finally).

Also have to remember that a luxury car(BMW, Merc) or sports car(Challenger/WRX) also comes with a higher fuel bill and insurance bill. Congrats on the car.

Your car is nice, but if you have to brag about it over a stock Kia, you've got some self esteem problems to work out. But not everybody cares about speed and power.

You should have bought a BMW. KIA is a garbage brand. You do get what you pay for just like PC parts.

I know of course your beefed up sti would kick mine in the butt. But my fully loaded Acura is really nice on the inside. Loving my 5.1 surround sound with DVD-audio :P (still would love to drive your car though)

Anyways, Guys... I like all type of cars, I don't follow the "I had a Kia once, It was garbage" etc. etc. and I won't buy a BMW or a Lexus over a Kia just because it's popular, As you can see. Yes, I could have bought my Challenger R/T and supercharged it for a powerful muscle car. But then as paper mentioned, The gas I'd spend is terrible, So is the insurance.

FYI my '07 Mustang V6 convertible costed me $600 for the first insurance payment, Since I was 18 back then... I'd also go out with friends like 3 days in a row and spend over $200 of gas, That's not good.

So far I've driven this car about 160 miles and It's only spent a little more than half a tank... This is in "Sport" mode. I can also use ECO whenever I feel like saving some gas in the exchange of power. My goal was to buy a regular car (Not sports or luxury) but get both AND not have to pay for the insurance premiums... that's what I did. I got the best of both worlds.

@Wrinvert GG bro. I'm very proud of you!

Yes because they are irrelevant to this topic. Face it you bought an overpriced toaster. Should have bought a New Bmw, let me state new since my daily driver is over 16 years old. Get some sense and spend your money on something better than a Car. Like others have said that kind of money is a house payment.

Thanks, I was replying to FBM and just deleted everything when you posted this =P! I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I do want to mention though, FBM... In L.A. $700 won't even get you 1 bedroom house for RENT let alone a house payment.

Second...whut?

2014 Audi A4 - 220HP - Chip this turbo bad boy and you'll be at 300 horses EASY, and its AWD.
2014 BMW 328i - 245HP - BMW Grossely underrates their engines and realistically puts down about 245 to the wheels, and probably over 270ish to the crank
2014 MB C-Class V6 - 248HP - Rear wheel drive, better driving dynamics enough said - again german so engines are underrated.
2014 Lexus IS 250 - 204HP - the IS350 starts at under 40k, and is much powerful at about 340ish horsepower
2014 Infiniti G Sedan - 328HP - Much better value and standard features from factory
2014 Kia Optima Turbo - 274HP

The only car you listed more powerful than the Optima is the Infiniti G Sedan (which also weighs 300 lbs more).

And third, you're a luxury car snob, so surprise surprise, obviously you'd never be caught dead in a Korean car. Why else would you buy into the idea of "prestige"? That's pretty shallow.

Am I tho? or are you assuming stuff? I pick my cars based on 3 criteria - RWD(this is a must, or AWD), powerful engine(T4, V6/i6 or V8) - that is either powerful enough from factory, or scalable in the long run with aftermarket support - G35, 3 Series, etc all fit the bill, and lastly I want a nice interior with good creature comforts. Leather seats to keep me snug, steering wheel controls, HIDs so I can see better at night.

The only Korean thing coming close to that is the Genesis coupe or sedan, and the styling, and weak engines(yes the turbo four need quite a bit of work to put out some decent number) and the sedan is just fugly. Also look at my notes above.

My next car in two months will be a 370z, that is neither luxurious nor really pretty. It's rough, coarse and brutal all through. I am about the driving experience, and the 370 delivers that. Yes, it will be a step down interior wise from my G, but the rest will be an improvement all around.

Furthermore, all of those cars don't have transmissions geared for ridiculous fuel economy as the ZF transmissions in those cars kick arse.

Thank you, Justin! I'm not sure why I kept replying to all the negative feedback, I was just excited that I bought a new car, But guess not everyone wants to see other people happy. Really appreciate it!

Yes you are a "luxury brand snob", given your replies of "you should have bought xxx car with a prestigious name over a Kia". Not everybody needs or wants RWD/AWD or mods their cars. And the Optima is a T4 with 274HP...so why were you saying it was underpowered compared to the competition, when in fact its overpowered compared to the competition? It's also got a nice interior and is fully loaded.

Yet you're hung up on the badge. That is the definition of a shallow or biased car snob.

Well atleast Halo bought an Infinity and gets quality for his money. Im sorry but if you spend anything over 20k on a KIA you are just asking for it. You don't have to be a snob to own quality. Its the same with PC parts, come on guys we all know this.

Yeah a turbo 4 with 274 horse power and a curb weight of 3100 pounds yet a 15 second quarter mile means the car has no performance due to gearing for highway mileage. Nothing wrong with that but performance is lacking. Hence why I pointed the ZF transmissions in my last post as those things shift as fast as a dual clutch as far as a spirited driver goes(to a professional they'd still be slow.)

I don't doubt the car is quality but its not 41k quality. For 41k i have much better choices than an Optima, plain and simple. I am not bashing the OP, I genuinely couldn't care less about what he bought - it's his money he is spending. I am simply stating for that money, I feel there is much better value out there both from a quality, performance and luxury side of things.

You would also be a fool to ignore the badge on the car as the badge tells a story. The Z has heritage all over the world, the M badge and the 3 series are legendary accross the world. The G(subsequentely a skyline in japan, australia and some parts of Europe) carry a high lineage with them. Heck Mercedes has been around for over 100 years, and you'd be a fool to ignore that heritage.

Heck Honda, and Toyota have been around for a while as well and have proven quality and reliability time and time again. Lexus carries a badge that is a testimatent to luxury and comfort.

What does Kia stand for? What does the brand stand for? Where to their roots come from? Exactly, they don't have any, they aren't know in Motorsport at all.

So I'm supposed to buy a car, Not because I like it, But because of the roots and the history of the company that made a certain car?

How does that make sense at all?
