NZXT Phantom Review: Product Website: NZXT Phantom on newegg.com Video Reviews: Youtube In-depth Written Reviews: Over Clockers club, Guru3d, Neoseeker Prior case experience: NZXT GAMMA, NZXT LEXA, APEVIA X-CRUISER Any suggestions on improving this review are welcome, its my first review so it may be a little less than amazing. If the people think this review is good then I'll start work on a review of the GAMMA and another NZXT case I'm ordering soon. - The Bad:
- The first bad/annoying thing is the lack of fans (3x120mm and 1x200mm fan). In a case this expensive NZXT should provide a side fan (I put in a 250mm fan- just FYI with the Corsair H50, H60, and H70 you can't put in a 250mm due to a lack of room)
- NZXT’s new and “improved” screwless design for the HDDs is a pain. You need to push the little pins into the HDD which is more annoying than it needs to be; a simple system like on the LEXA or GAMMA would be nice.
-
-
- The CD/DVD installation is far from screwless, you need to put in thumbscrews on the both sides of the drive bay to reduce vibration, making the claim, that it’s screwless, a bit misleading.
- The LEDs on the Phantom, its power, HDD activity, and fan controller LEDs are bright enough to light a city and can be seen from space. If you intend to fold during the night you’ll need to cover them with something.
- The rubber grommets through which you pass the cables have a tendency to fall off and are a massive pain to put back on, additionally I’ve only had the case 3-4 months and part of the grommet is broken. If you do a lot of upgrading you may want to remove them. I believe this was caused by the power supplies 24-pin cable pressing on the grommet, causing the rubber to fail.
-
- The Good:
- One thing that amazed me was how big the Phantom is (L x W x H: 25.74" x 8.74" x 21.32"), once you remove the plastic though, it’s a little smaller (21” x 8.74” x 19”).
-
-
-
- The case is well ventilated with openings in the bottom, perforated PCI slot covers, and plenty of room for fans.
-
-
- Once all your components are in, the case is quiet and looks good, especially if you put some LEDs in it.
- Cable management is easy; the Phantom has little hooks you can put a wire ties through which is nice, making the system look clean and improves airflow.
-
-
- when compared to comparable cases its well equipped. Plenty of room for HDDs, CD/DVD drives, and motherboards; however, it’s not what you would call light, fully loaded it weighs in at over 45 pounds.
- NZXT’s customer service is good, I had the top 200mm fan die requested a new one and they sent it to me quickly. I also recently had my fan controller die, I emailed NZXT and they apologized for my trouble and sent me the following to make up for it: "For the trouble we will provide you with an extra 200mm LED fan, fan controller, USB and two 120mm fans for your case."They used 3 day shipping via FedEx
- Props to their customer service for being so good!
- All in all it’s a great case; it’s easy to work in, looks great, and is relatively durable.

I have this case & thoroughly enjoyed working in it with all the room .... I definitely agree w/ the hard drive mounts are weird to say the least and most of all the rest you wrote is close to spot on. It's not really a very expensive case as you said though and would recommend it to anyone at it's current price point. Nice stuff.

Too bad that requires NZXT's own standard fans or I would choose it over the 600T WE. Still looks like a nice case.

I use a non-NZXT 250mm fan that worked fine in the side, the NZXT 200mm fans are very good plus you can get a good (166CFM) fan from herefor only $9.99 http://www.directron.com/fn200rb.html. For the top it may be a problem but you don't need more than 1 in the top. The 120mm fans use standard layout so you only need to buy one fan. IF you get the Phantom here ***WARNING IDK IF THE WEBSITE IS GOOD*** for only $116 http://www.provantage.com...han-001wt~7NZXT02X.htm

Well I do have a 200MM NZXT fan that I was gonna use in my Vulcan but never got around to it. I might go with a Phantom though cause of the cost. Plus that extra cash can go towards other parts. At this point it's a toss up between the HAF 912, 600T WE and a Phantom.

The HAF is cheap, the 600T is expensive, the Phantom seems the most reasonable. The Phantom has great cooling, looks good, is easy to work in, great customer service behind it, and runs very quiet. Also look at newegg check out the reviews for each case before you decide, also think about the customer service behind each case Review for the site I wasn't sure about: http://www.resellerrating...PROVANTAGE_Corporation

Well I might snag the white Phantom after all. I am already saving some cash just from having won that cooler so that'll help pay for a case better than the HAF 912.

Examine what you need, a lot of cooling and plenty of room (its a full ATX) get the Phantom if you want a mid-tower than get the Corsair. It really matters which you want mid-tower or full-tower. Decide that and then go from there, the Phantom is easily one of the best Full tower cases as for Mid-tower cases I like the GAMMA (but its $40 and ugly).

Considering the fact that I am looking at ditching the whole mATX route with my next rig I would prefer full tower. Lots of cooling and dust filters is a HUGE must for where I live.

The Phantom as 2x200mm fan filters (side and top), 2x120mm fan filters (both on the side, HDD cooling), 1xPSU fan filter (on the bottom of the case). There could be 1x120mm on the front but I can't remember. More then enough in the way of filters. You could, if more are needed, call/email NZXT and ask for more they will send them for free or charge a small fee.

Looks like I know what next case will be then. I gotta say I am starting to like the white cases that are coming out. Black is great but eh it's becoming a tired color choice.

The outside looks best in white but the inside would look best in black.Any questions or concerns with the case, just email/call NZXT and they'll get you sorted out Check out NZXT's full range of Phantoms http://www.newegg.com/Pro...IsNodeId=1&name=No
